Anyone know of any upcoming rugby video game release i.e. EA Rugby 09?

Would love a game with the Heineken Cup fully licensed.

Nope no chance, maybe 2011. No other game developer will be interested in it anyway as its the hardest sports game to configure.

No word from EA about it even being thought of or in production.

Pity really. Rugby '06 was good craic. I wonder do these games have much/any appeal outside the main rugby playing nations?

I'm still playing 08 from time to time because its still great fun- and with a good team it actually plays like a (****) rugby game. Pity that its an over complicated game to design around.

Was just thinking the other night that a new rugby game is needed...But not from EA. Preferably from a British company.....then we may get proper rules if nothing else (licensed names would be nice too but as long as the gameplay is good).

    Bring back Jonah!

    🤪

I've been hoping a game would come out but it doesn't seem very likely :(
It usually goes by what is top rated in america , and rugby isn't that popular in the U.S. So their game developers would not really think about making a game if there is no demand for it. They'd prob c it as a potential loss in money.

    Sux ..

Introduction of ELV's means that EA might have to get up off their ass and change their game template, either that or wait in the hope that they phase them out so they can use the same one as 2006 and 2008 yet again.

Video games industry is now bigger than the film industry - and making games costs more and more.

There's going to be f all demand for a rugby game outside of the dozen or so rugby playing nations. And in all of those bar Wales and New Zealand (yeah - real important) rugby's a minority sport. There's sadly nowhere near enough demand.

Jonah Lomu Rugby on the playstation (I think?) was quality - bring that back!

You using TRF's updates to the game btw? They are the only thing that make the game playable and the guys there have done a fantastic job to update what ever can be updated.

The new ones a bit dodgy actually - kinda disappointed with it. Might wipe it all off and start fresh.

I'd buy that even for a slight update of graphics & adding knock-ons. Wud be so good playing online.

Deylaud was frightningly fast, Grayson might have been even faster (not the most realistic).

Codemasters and Rage also had great teams as well, what ever happened to little Mather he was an absolute flyer.

Played it about a month ago after a couple of year's hiatus...i still had the magic, great ability to offload in the tackle and an unbelievable knack to win scrums that weren't mine.

I loved that game. Easily the best gameplay ever for a computer game.

Any1 ever score a dropgoal from the halfway line with ur man Mather on the Rage allstars team?

No, but I did score a conversion from my own try line with the out-half (mccabe?) on the rage team. So much craic with Rage. There was the huge fullback (williams) , the "nippy" winger...could score all manner of crazy scores!
