An interesting piece. You were quite brave toi break the normal form of structured narrative, and I think it pays off. Your introductory words really draw the reader into the story, and almost before they can orientate themselves within the flow, the tables are turned. While normally a reader would ask questions about the story, here the story asks a question of the reader. "Can they really be that crap?", the narrator asks. And the reader has nowhere to go for answers but his own experience, thus integrating the tale not just into the real world, but into the reader's personal life. The followup queston adds to the metaphysical angst of the piece, and really sets up the concluson where not only must the reader confront his own lack of answers, but perhaps his own lack of views in general.

Great work, Oligarch. I'm looking forward to reading more of your stuff.
