I was browsing along a Mazda owners forum when I read that the Mazda 3 MPS had a common fault whereby on most models the engine bolt wasnt strong enough, and Mazda had issued a recall! Nobody told me! found out that my car is affected! its now booked in to get a free replacement bolt tomorrow!

This is a UK website (I got my car in the UK) but I think it covers all VIN numbers from the manufacturors so should cover Irish cars as well (or maybe somebody knows the Irish equivalent of this site?)

So I think everybody should check to see if their car is affected!

"Due to an assembly concern with the front seat belt retractor mechanism, there is a possibility that the seatbelts may fail to lock. This was highlighted during impact testing."

My Almera was affected by a recall. The headlights were found to overheat and melt the surrounds so the bulbs and holders were loose and rattling around. Only found out when i thought a bulb had blown and took the light apart to check it.

Rang the garage I bought it form as was still under warrenty (Toyota second hand) and they got in touch with Nissan and found out about it.

Dropped car to Toyota, they took it to Nissan for me and got both entire headlight units replaced for me:)

 Mines an Almera too, and my headlight melted the surrounds only a couple of weeks ago!

Ring Nissan and ask about it. Not sure but I think it newer shapes 03 to XX that are affected.

Apparently they were really decent about it and immediatly said as it was a potential saftey issue they would fix it on the same day as they were told about it*. Dropped car in next day and had it back that afternoon.

*Toyota guy was telling me about it

Hmm, mine is the older model, possibly just a coincidence. I fixed it myself anyway :)

    - The seatbelt failure only effected builds from 01/12/1997 to : 25/05/1998 btw

Almost 10,000 Toyota Yarises have today been recalled in Ireland

    http://www.rte.ie/business/2009/0129/toyota.html
Almost 10,000 Toyota Yaris cars are being recalled in Ireland because of a minor defect with seatbelts.

The vehicles affected were manufactured between June 2005 and April 2007.

Just under 1.3 million cars worldwide are being recalled because of this problem with the seatbelt mechanism.

The company says there is no fault with the seatbelt itself but that the defect lies with a sound insulator which could become damaged by high temperatures generated in the event of a crash.

Toyota says there have been two cases worldwide where it caught fire.

9,841 Yaris cars in Ireland are affected by this recall.

Toyota Ireland says it will replace the part at no cost to the owner and that it should take no longer than 40 minutes.

The company says owners of the vehicles involved will recieve notification by post early next month.

I would say the reason nobody told you is that they dont know who has the car. Manufacturers wouldnt have your details especially if you bought it second hand in the UK so are probably trying to trace the chassis number up to point of export. They then need to try get the details from our system to see where it is.

This is probably true but scary as I the engine can just drop under heavy acceleration which I have been known to do! (and I have a track day this sunday!)

I bought it as an ex demonstrator off a mazda dealer whith all contact details supplied so i'll give them the benifit of the doubt as its free to replace and I am getting it replaced before any damage is done.
