screech when I put my foot on the clutch

I have no idea what it is. I'm doing the same thing in another car and no noise.

I start the car and go to put it in gear but as soon as my foot is on the clutch it makes this noise. I don't know if it makes the noise if I'm changing gears. I never remember to check for it.

What is it? The car's going for the NCT tomorrow so I'll find out then if there's something wrong with the car. Is it the car or is it me? I've only started to drive to it's quite likely to be either.

Probably the clutch release bearing. Post the cars details up here and you might get a better answer however.

No reason why it should impede the NCT, so go ahead with that.

It's a 96 Opel Corsa 1.2L petrol... do you need more than that?

If its the clutch release bearing it is a big job to replace. Probably more cost effective to keep running the car until it stops to be honest. My Grandfather had the same problem years ago with a civic and it was grand like that for 12mths it took for the old man to destroy the rest of the car. Its not dangerous anyway.
