Some ipod questions

    Hey,
    When I first got my ipod video I immediately installed rockbox on it. Now I'm thinking of going back to the original ipod interface, but have some questions before doing so. It'd be great to get some help;

    1. I don't have itunes, so will have to copy all my music over from the ipod on to my HD and put through itunes to get the songs back on to the ipod properly. I presume this is straightforward and easy?

    2. Am I able to have songs on my ipod that are not on my itunes? I prefer keeping my collection on my ipod than on my computer.

    3. Am I able to use the ipod for storage, even without itunes? For example, if I wanted to take some files off a friends computer who didn't have itunes, can I do so?

    There might be more questions to follow, but thanks for any input !

    Hi Cianos,

    1. Yep once you copy you music to your hard disk , you can drag it into the itunes library and it will be put on your iopd.

    2. Not sure about this one, maybe get an external HD to keep your music on aswell as your ipod and then you'd have a backup aswell or else take a look at this program http://www.ephpod.com/

    3. Yep just go into your ipod options in iTunes and click the option to use as an external disk.

    Hope that helps some bit!

    Storing music on your ipod is a dangerous activity. . If it dies (and they do) you loose everything (take it from someone who lost 15GB worth on my first ipod). Given the price of external hard drives now if space is your issue I would buy an external drive and use itunes . .
