Debs dresses are generally floor length, that being said shorter lengths(knee and below) are also appropriate. Colour..sure why are you asking us?!!? Whats YOUR favourite colour, style and shape, go out shopping and see what you consider to look best on you. Debs dresses can be any colour shape etc under the sun. Its your own personal taste and what you feel comfortable in.

What is your price range for this dress?? And are you from/or living in Dublin? Some shops in the city centre are Fran and Jane, Rococo, Brown Thomas, Lara. Also www.jovani.com is a great site as some of the dresses from Lara and Fran and Jane can be found on that site and bought for cheaper. Good luck!

eBay is also the best way in the world to be 100% sure nobody else is wearing the same thing as you! I buy loads of gear off eBay, can't over-reccomend it.

As a bloke who was dragged (only kidding, they're actually fun!) to the odd debs, I can tell you thats spot-on. For serious, it looked like a big pack of smarties covered in make up at one of 'em.

Shorter prom-style dresses like this that are about knee-length have gotten quite popular in recent years, so you could go for either floor length or prom style, whatever suits you best.

Empire-style maxi dresses like this one are quite popular http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/45013375&bklist=icat,5,shop,women,dresses,wommaxidress

Most girls will bring a matching shawl/pashmina for a bit of warmth, but usually leave it off for the photos. They also usually accessoirise with matching jewelery and heels, and a clutch bag.

There's an Irish magazine called Image, if you can get your hands on a copy of last December's issue, it has a big feature on Irish debs and pages of pictures of girls from different schools at theirs, so that could give you an idea of what can be worn.

If you can get a nice dress in the states, try and do so,as in many girls opinions, one of the worst things is to turn up in the same dress as someone else.

    hey OP.
A good thing to do is set a budget and stick to it!
I splashed out and spent €300 on my dress :o but you would get one waaaay cheaper than this and its only one night after all....:)
However I did my own make-up, didnt get my tan or nails done.... which nearly everyone else paid a fortune to get done
my shoes were €40 friends spent anything from €60 up to €400:eek:

    Enjoy the night:D

The matching stole is almost nowhere to be seen...some people will have capes or pashminas though. The most common type of floor-length dress is usually silk and backless/very low back. Diamante common on these dresses. V-neck's very common too, and halternecks on knee-length dresses. Jewel colours are in. Very little black these days. Try to avoid Monsoon, often there's girls with the same dress from there.
