first of all i haven't personally played rainbow 6,

    but, in general......

firstly, i presume ur getting killed with headshots.
secondly, ur most likely playing against ppl that spend alot of time playing the game so they know the maps well, how the characters move ie limitations, speed etc...best weapons for certain maps, the list goes on......

    to improve,
KNOW THE MAPS inside out. this is key. watch for good ambush spots that you see ppl using,
if there is team match's play this also as ur less likely to get owned
    keep on the move......
If you persist and keep trying new things you will improve quickly

and if you u cant , well its only game !!!!

What he said. Learn what guns are good and which are bad.

Learn how to snipe effectively. Try playing through the SP as a sniper primarily, then move onto the close range gunning.

If you can get good at sniping, the rest comes more naturally.

(That is if RSV2 has snipers. Not sure as I haven't played it.)

Of all the online games I've ever played the rainbow six series gives me the least enjoyment. Why? Because the people who play on this are near pros. Try terrorist hunt co-op for a bit of online fun here.

Thanks Lads ... your right Vyse , some of the on-line guys are pros cause they can kill you even when you go up from behind they will turn and get you with a single bullet

I have played this game too , very frustrating  Absolute gimps on the other them just wait for you to respawn then kill you again

You can't even get out of the room from which you have respawned !!! Is it the same with COD4 ?

i don't think its cos you're s**t, it may be because most of the guys playing are at it as soon as the day starts. i played both rsv games and met some good friends on it an we even formed a clan and i got pretty decent at it, i was once ranked in the top 6000 out of more than 120,000.

if you're getting killed while on the run, stick to the edge of obstacles and walls, try ducking for cover often. if you're in a firefight use short bursts in case you end up one-on-one and scrambling to reload. main thing is don't panic when the bullets start flying. check your surroundings, see where the shots are comin from and lob a grenade that way, or shoot back if you really want to...

if you wanna get together online for a few games hit me up on PSN, my gamer ID is: genisis87

Another tip. Use the shotgun on the smaller or tighter maps. One shot to the body is all thats needed for a kill whereas an assault rifle will take a few rounds.

i aws the same the first couple of times i played online

but it all comes down to practise, learn the weapons, learn the maps

even do terrorist hunt in single player on co-op online as this will get
you familar to the different maps and help you to plan your strategy on
    certain maps

there is sniper rifles ... but only some maps work really well for them

and some of the team deathmatch games you have poxy campers
sitting at the spawn points waiting for you ...

ye sure learning the maps, guns, etc;helps and some of them guys are **** hot. but a good percentage of how good you are comes down to one thing. your connection if you dont have a good connection your f******. a lot of these guys are playing on 24mb fibre optic connections with really low ping times. whereas in this godforsaken country we are lamped with eircom and their ****ty copper wire.

    Exactly.

Copper wires, yum! My ISP uses method like clearwire and i get ping times of 30s to dublin on average.

Thanks Lads ..all great advice .

I am getting better especially at sniping in "the streets" and have been commented on by some clan members on my sniping skills , must say i am loving the game and maybe spending al little too long on it and getting a bit of a scalding by the other half , the joys of it :P

I am having problems but on line , games are dropping out "no longer available" and that dreaded noise Lag ( same explosion over and over) , is this related to my NTL 10mb connection or just a bug in the game .
Also some times when i try to join a on line game i get " unable to establish connection" , If i quit the game and reload it seems to resolve this ... again ... is this a ISP problem or game bug ?

    keep the tips coming:D

That noise lag affects everyone. Sounds like a gun going off non-stop and can drive you mad.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,283 ✭✭✭Glico Man

yeah that noise lag drives me insane. i just put the tv to mute until the next round cos i use a headset so i can just chat to the other players on my team until then...

the unable to establish connection is a problem for us all mate. it can be a problem with your connection, the hosts connection or just the a problem with the whole RSV2 server...

its good you've started getting kills, even if they are the most annoying of all...sniper

its a real sign of progress so keep it up and remember hit me up if you want a game

    Thanks Aaron,

Sniping annoys hey ! ... you must be one of those close combat feckers that I envy , please share your knowledge and give me some pointers as even if I am in my spawn and I can see the enemy coming and have plenty of time to get him before me they still manage to move around mighty fast and skillful and wack me :o

Is all the skill for close combat in the left thumb ? (ie) move left and right and short bursts of bullets or does your rank dictate your skill (higher rank better chance of kill) can you give me any another tip , would love to have the skills to get involved in those fire fights I see going on below me as I try and pick off some slow fecker :D

if im honest then i dont have much skill in the close combat.. i just aim high up (head area) and keep my finger on the trigger and try and move around at the same time while correcting the gun while it flies around.. its very important to keep moving.. if you can master head shots in close combat then you're on your way to invincibility..

some of the guys i know use specific weapons for what type of game they want to play, sniper, assault and random bastardry with a handgun..

if you want a good weapon for long range assault then the famas is best as it has the best accuracy. the best gun for all round is the scar.. it has good range, good power and has a good magazine size and is my favorite in RSV2.. i was a regular famas user in RSV1..

the submachine gun is something of a mystery to me as i only use two guns.. the type5 and the mp5

shotguns are brilliant if you can get up close but it is quite often you die charging in to a room full of the other team.. if you're gonna use a shotgun then you better use heavy body armour so you can take the punishment..

and a great tip from someone last night, grenades get you out of alot of bother.. a perfectly placed grenade can do alot of damage.. i once took out an entire team on the vegas junkyard map cos they were all crowded in the corridor bit..
