I have extremely thick and wavy hair. I just can't seem to solve the dryness problem. I drink plenty of water, eat a healthy diet full of fruits and vegetables and Omega3s, don't smoke, rarely drink, don't perm, color or even blow dry my hair. I don't over shampoo it either.

I use only moisturizing shampoos and rich conditioners etc etc. Any suggestions for treatments, either from the store or homemade? Other solutions?:(

    Hiya

I asked that very question in a different thread yesterday!
I've been reading that most of the salon and well known brands contain silicones which, while appearing to smooth the shaft of the hair is actually only hiding the damage by glossing over it and eventually causes holes in the pores of hair and if you start using a silicone free plant based shampoo without lots of chemicals that at first your hair shows how damaged it is, and then it gets better if you continue using natural products. I don't know how true it is but my next shampoos I buy are going to be natural, I realise it may get ugly for a while but it's still cold enough to wear a hat and I'll put it up indoors! I heard Aveda is a good brand. I thnk the problem is people get disheartened when all the damage and split ends show and they go running back to silicones, I am determined to get better hair so I'm going to give it a go!!

Every now and again, I put mayonaise in my hair. Sound gross I know, and it kinda is, but if you wet your hair, put this on overnight, its a really good moisturiser, doesn't even have to be an overnight job. I've also heard beer is really good. Don't ask me why though!

I started using Aveda around christmas and find it good, However it is really expensive - 125ml shampoo, cond, and mositurising leave in was EUR87.. however if you search on ebay you can get the cheaper.

the best thing to do is to head to ur local sauna armed with a bottle of conditioner!
wash ur hair first then swueeze out excess moisture load in the conditioner
and sit in either the steam room or sauna for 15-20 mins, rinse with cold water as this will close the cuiticles of the hair making it appear shinier!

You can put a little olive oil on your scalp and hair, then leave it for about 20 minutes and take a shower. Also, deep conditioning treatments really help. You can get nice ones at Lush or Boots. Try the olive oil, though, that's what does the trick for me.

Does mayonnaise work becasue it contains egg? ...Egg having protein?

I was wondering if that's the reason too....I put mayonnaise in my hair every few weeks, sometimes I just rub an egg in to my hair. It's mank and probably makes no difference other than feeling and smelling rotten! :pac:
