For those sartorial experts out there, what's your verdict on flat-ended knitted silk ties? TM Lewin has a good sale going on, I've bought a few ties there and noticed some continental types donning these things (Nicolas Sarkozy being one, the oul' tyke).

Before I bite the bullet, what do you guys think?

    Class imo.

Very 60's, Flemings James Bond wore nothing else;) I definitely like them.

Cant claim to be an "expert" OP, but I like them, I have two, plain black, and plain grey....

With that in mind I've never had the opportunity to wear either! I like the knitted look of them, they are unique if nothing else!

The knitted silk tie, in navy, over a light blue shirt is almost the classic Italian base to any suit, and will go with pretty much anything - so would be a versatile look for work wear if you wear a suit/jacket.

I've never liked them. I always thought of them as too casual, too 1960's and thats not for me. If you are going with a jacket and jeans then it looks OK but I think it cheapens a suit.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.
