Attic conversion - insulation and panelling question

I’m going to convert my attic for some extra living/workspace..

its nice and big with about 5m x 5m of space already opened up to create 2 rooms.. (I’ve floored it with basic attic chipboard panels so it was used as basic storage space.. do I just floor over these with another layer of tongue n groove and then carpet? - or does anyone advise another solution?

firstly i just want to make one big room, so i plan to get 2 velux windows fitted professionally, then I’m going to set out lighting/power points and get a electrician fiend to wire them in correctly..

then I’m going insulate the walls and ceilings before panelling out the space with plasterboard and some tounge n groove.

I will be doing most of the work myself..

I just need some advice on how best to insulate the roof and walls

The two end walls are concrete block (its a detached house)

my question is.. what’s the best way to insulate

    Firstly - the pitched roof?

Secondly - the two gable walls?

E.G. How much space do I leave for air circulation etc.

Do i put in Rockwool or fibreglass in the roof sections, should i put a reflective layer of the thermal wrapping on top, and then do i use platerboard on top of this? what sort of spaces do i need to leave for air circulation?

any help would be appreciated, I’m doing this on a small budget so any money saving tips would be appreciated..

any handy sites/books with this info?

re stair access, I will be building a space saver stairs which fits in perfectly in one section, which will have a door at the bottom to comply with fire regs.

    cheers

In the process of converting my attic too.(at the painting stage now)

I used Kingspan's Kooltherm 7 board for the pitched roof and used insulated plasterboard and rockwoll on the gable end, and cans of expanding foam to fill in the gaps. It is straight forward enough to put up yourself all you need is a hand saw and a measuring tape !

Kingspan give good technical advice if you ring them the number is 042 9795000.

cant remember exactly, but they are bigger than normal. (ive seen spindly klittle trusses in other attics). as far as i remember mine are built to corporation spec , but at a guess they are 6x2.ins (maybe bigger), 16in centers for the rafters and roof trusses..

very beefy, triple beams at the area spec'd for stairs

ill measure exactly later today when i get home..

    cheers
