I'm buying my first car and im looking at a 03 honda civic 3 door with 60000 miles. does anyone have any experience with this model are they reliable?how much would it cost to put lips and side skirts on it?would 18" alloys fit it?I also like the newer mesh grill on the newer 04 models anyone know how much this would cost to get done?

    great car imo
    reliable etc etc

what model are you looking at?
my GF has an 04 type S which comes from the factory with the full type R kit (minus the type R badges of course), leather and some othe detailing.

the gear stick position is great and you get used to it in 5 mins flat.

in regards to getting the full lip kit fitted, you would probably be better off buying a type s in the first place as the cost difference might not be that much or if your buying the 1.4 model, one with the kit already fitted.

its the 3 door si model. tink can only get the 1.4 model because cant afford the insurance on a 1.6 vtec. just after findin a cheap 04 model with the new grill. ya i was wondering about the gear stick alrite. i reckon if its too expensive for the lips mite just lower it 40 mm and hav 18s on it

Can I recommend you leave out the cosmetic bits and put the money you'd save to getting a VTEC? (Springs fitted about €250, alloys about the same if bought 2nd hand)

If I had a choice between a standard 1.6 and a lowered 1.4 on 18's, I'd go with the 1.6. If you intend to keep the car for a bit it'd probably be the smarter move.

we had 18s and lowered it by 40mm too, but my god the ride of it was terrible! she went through a full set of tyres in a year due to pot holes bumps etc etc and getting blow outs.

the EP shape civic is quite heavy compared to its older models so beware of bumps and potholes.

imo the car needs the lip kit as it looks a bit lost without it.

yep, both of the cars have the Type R kit from the factory.
the 1.4 model is 90bhp and the 1.6vtec (SOHC) is 110bhp, not a lot of performance difference if im honest.
