I am wondering if anyone has any information. I have split with my partner of 10years and we have 2 year old daughter.
We have a home together but i have moved back to my parents and he is still living in the family where he is paying the mortgage of 1400 per month all he can afford to give me is 20euro per week maintance.
Does anyone know if i would be able entitled to one parent payment. I work 35hrs per week but i will reducing my hours to 20hrs per week.

I am really sick of seeing these types of comments, the government robs us blind and no one seems to care, but you get pissed off at this single mother trying to get a few extra euros so she can mind her kid.

She has earned more than what she will recieve already in taxes. That's what you pay them for.

You should be able to claim:

    http://www.welfare.ie/EN/Pages/AParent.aspx

Also check out Family Income Supplement on that page.

Sorry to hear about your situation but yes you should be able to claim and you can also get Family Income supplement if you are working less than 20 hours a week. Good luck.

20 a week for his child? 1400 per month for a house?

Sorry, but priorities all wrong imo. Your ex has to do more... sell the house, rent out a couple rooms, anything.

Sorry, maybe just a typo, but its more than 19 hours a week on average.

If they aren't married, technically he is paying her half of the Mortgage. Maintenance is based on income and expenses, so in this case, if his expenses are high, he may have little to pay.

He could look at selling and renting though, if its a good idea in the current market.

Indeed, The income limit for one child is €500 after tax and PRSI. If you earn €400 (after tax and PRSI) you would get €60. (500-400=100*60%=60)

She may well be not entitled to it full time but if she drops to 20 hours a week, she could be. That together with LPA, if applicable, would bridge a fair bit of the gap.
