Hi folks , I'm in need of a little help here ! I wanted to post this in The Picture Game thread but decided against as I wouldnt be able to provide an answer - also the pic was taken in 1922 which probably goes against the spirit of that thread too ! I'm trying to identify the specific location in Dublin of a few photos from a set found in my grandfather's effects - I've identified the majority of the set as being on and around Sackville St/Henry St but there are a few I'm stuck on . One example below - if I've done this right !

Any thoughts and suggestions gratefully received :)

    Great pic,

This is the thread you want

Historic Dublin Pictures & Videos Thread (also in "Dublin City")

This pic and any others you have will be much appreciated, and I am sure some one will be able to identify it for you.

The 4 Courts would be the obvious guess. It has railings in places, and looks close... , but doesnt seem to tally with what is there now.

Being from the left of the building, the 3 windows, and has a different railing now.

But the scale of the 4 Courts looks a bit bigger than the building in the pic.

The very top right of the picture shows that the building ends and is replaced by a large wall with railings on top.
    Another clue, perhaps?

Thanks , I'll post some pics there shortly :)

I dont think it's Liberty Hall (windows too close together) and also the Four Courts seems unlikely - I think the only railings at that time extended out past the pillars at the main entrance (other than the railings set into the arches looking into the forecourt) . I'm by no means certain though :o

    Hi lads

Don't know if this helps but I thought that armoured car looked in a bad way so I did a little digging and it turns out an armoured car was captured by the IRA defending the Four Courts...you could have piture of the car which looks like it has damaged wheels and that it was stripped of its armament

If you go to Paragraph 92 on this web page:

    http://www.generalmichaelcollins.com/pages/irishcivilwar.html

Great photo. Have'nt been able to find another photo of "The Mutineer" on the web so it might be a rare find :)

If you look at this web site on post 36

    http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=97850&st=25&p=1038416&#entry1038416

It says one of the cars was called "ex-mutineer" did the Irish Army lads keep the name as a joke?

According to this guys Flickr site the offical car number is AAR-9
