The USB adapter for my headset has gone wonky. Now when its plugged in the microphone feeds back into the headphones, but still works on the PC. Without the adapter the headset works fine. Just started happening today. I dont know what the hell has happened.

Try the headset and the adapter on another persons system if you can.
If it works perfect, you know its your computer hardware/software problem.
If it won't work you know it's the headset or adapter.

At that stage, try a different adapter, if still no joy, you know its the head set.
If you test the origional adapter with a new/borrowed head headset and it don't work on your machines, you've narrowed the problem to the adapter!

    Replace it!
