The "Golfmotion" trolley looks like a good value option. It has a 36 hole battery and folds down in one piece like the Powacaddy freeway.
McGuirks are doing it for €299.00.

I have a Golf Motion one and it's grand. Very light for lifting in and out of the car, so far so good with the battery and no problem up hills or anything.

One thing that bugs me is the front wheel is a tiny bit off which leads it off to the right. Only slightly but over 30 yards it'd be turned at a right-angle. Gets annoying.

Anyone know anywhere that would fix it?

Ok I bought a Pro2Go golf trolly about two years ago on Ebay from a Dutch company, delivered for about 250yoyos. As far as I can see, it and the, "Golf Motion," trolley are identical, examined them in McGuirks and a friend has one.
As Sheet has discribed, it is like a one legged duck, and has resisted all attempts to work the other leg!! I took off the front wheel at realigned the bolt holes to sit the wheel square to the ground, didn't work, wheel carriage slipped, tried glueing it, no better.
Also where the wheels sit on the drive shaft there are four lugs that lock into the wheel to transfer the drive to the wheel, these have broken on both sides. They are a poor copy of a Powakaddy and the old addage stands true, you get what you pay for.

I also have a old Powakaddy, which I use the whole time gives no trouble but I need to replace the battery shortly, its about 7yro, so no real complaints.

If your on a budget, Dunnes do a trolley for 129. Not sure if they are any use. But maybe someone here might know.

i know at least 3 people who got electric trolleys at dunnes and none of them lasted very long. on 1 the dial for changing the speed feel off and on another it is always on at full speed so you have to plug it out everytime you want to stop.

Your best bet has to be a Hill Billy!!
Available for €339, Powakaddy bought them during the summer and are standing over them.
If this one breaks after your warranty they are very easy to get parts for as there many powakaddy agents around.
My friend has one and it is better than any other "cheaper" trolley

What is golfmotion!!!!, the golf glider looks like a junior cert metal-work project and the ones from dunnes acquire countless problems with batteries and motors!!

also bought a Powakaddy.....had a few batteries but its going into yr 6

if you play a lot spend a little more on a powakaddy as you will get the parts for any repairs
if you play a little maybe buy one of those "made in china sorry cant get any parts for it" models may or may not last but won't break the bank

I got a Golf Glider about 6 months ago based on recommendations. Parents both had Powa Caddys and had problems with them, and worse still, had real issues trying to get the problems resolved.

Golf Gliders are made in Churchtown, Dublin so any problems and you can just drop in and they will fix it for you.

It may not look like a million dollars, but its not a car, I prefer reliability over looks in something like this.

Also, your bag just sits on it firmly, you dont have to strap it in like on a powa caddy. Never had a problem with any bag falling off or moving (and I have had a few bags over the last 6 months :D )

Have to say, anyone I talk to says the golf glider is a s reliable as a trolley comes. I bought a greenhills and it's grand. No real problems so far. Had one minor one and it was dealt with.

I know a couple of lads with them 3-4 months and they have no complaints. Very good price. I'd say go for it. Go for it.

I believe they also do a non -electric version for 1 euro. Might get a few funny looks wheeling it onto the 1st tee at the k-club mind. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 586 ✭✭✭Waesfjord

However playing in Wicklow on SAt, so will be passing by there Sat morning, passing by again on sat evening.

do they fix them there and then do yoiu know, as would need them to turn it around in <5hours (using standard trolley in meantime)

I was talking to my old boss from McGuirks and he was saying the Hillbilly is the way forward as it is good value and very reliable...

I think I am going to get 1 before Headfort as am starting to feel it after 18holes carrying the bag sure sign of age cathing up..

    try www.gokart.co.uk

superb electric trolley from the uk for about 200 sterling, looks the business & light & compact. had mine 4 months now, superb & havent seen another one around dublin yet.

have a look, all the website forums rate them very highly & a lot chaeper than the powakaddys.

I got motor replaced with a 2nd hand one. Guy in the car park at Portmarnock Driving Range just as you enter the range. It's a few years ago now so can't remember his name.

I had a Hillbilly for 13 yrs and over that time it was hard on batteries, wheel clutches and had the odd speedcontroller problem. I decided to replace it with a GolfMotion but it packed in on the first round - first of all it would not shut off and stop - now it won't set off. Have contacted manufacturer awaiting reply. I say manufacturer as on the box it said Made in China!

Finding pushing a cart around at the moment is hurting my back and wrecking my posture. It's either back to the stand bag or an electric trolley. Any thoughts on what to go with?
I've narrowed it down to the Motocaddy S3 or GoKart. Getting a good deal on the Motocaddy and accessories but it will still work out 200 euro extra. Plus I seen a black GoKart today and its actually very understated IMO, it doesn't scream flash c***, nor would you even think it's an electric cart.

Suppose what I'm really asking is, do I need to spend the extra on the S3? Are the added features really worth it?

I got a GoKart last year too. Great trolley, set up and ready to go in about a minute... and thats taking your time.

No real extras on it but I reckon thats a good thing as less to go wrong with it.

Anyway, I would really recommend the GoKart

Yeah I reckon I will go with the gokart, really not worth 200 extra for the couple of extra features. I'd rather use the 200 to buy a GPS/Rangefinder if I really need to measure distances more accurately.
