Rockwool for the attic?

    Hey folks
apols if there's been a similar thread.
I'm going to reinsulate my attic, Rockwool looks like a good option. While I like the idea of hemp etc, blown insulation doesn't suite everywhere and I'd be concerned it would move about and leave patches.

Is rockwool a good option, any ideas on the cost per roll and how much would be needed for a standard 3 bed detached 1400sq ft?

    Thank all!!!

There are lots of recent threads on insulating attics, air gaps, condensation etc.
Rockwool is very good and easier to fit than fibre glass as its not as itchy to touch etc however it is more expensive.

A number of Stores and Suppliers were offering deals on fibre glass - 50% etc. I got rolls for €5 and €13!

Area = length x width if it a flat plane, some houses might have sloping ceilings which could add to the area. Find out joist dimension and spacings.

Rolls come to suit 400, 600mm centres pre-cut or in 1200mm widths. Thickness dictates price ie a 100mm roll costs the same as a 200mm thick roll but the 200mm roll will be half the area of the 100mm roll!

try to achieve 300mm overall depth.
