hi, i changed from running in flat slipper like runners recently because back pain. now im using proper nike 'running' runners and although my back pain is gone the arches of my feet are in severe pain after a few miles.

it got so bad the other night had to limp home for a mile. is this just 'breaking in' or am i using the wrong type of runners?

    advice appreciated :)

Wrong type of runners could well be... Runners need to be "breaking in" over short distances first (e.g. don't run 13miles is new runners), but that should not cause any pains.

Drop to runways or amphibian king for a (free) gait analysis.
Irishfit does provide gait analysis, but i think he charge €70 for it..may be you get more as well, dunno.

Good sale until end of week in runways.

sounds like your using the wrong shoe. Have heard of hot spots and blisters but this sounds like a bigger problem. I wouldn't persevere too long with them.

That sounds nasty OP. I had a pair fitted yesterday with Amphibian King, I needed a new pair and I'd never been fitted with gait analysis and all that. I was impressed - the guy spent ages with me and we tried 5 different pairs of shoes 'till we found the best pair for me. While it wasn't a radically different type of shoe I picked previously it was brilliant to have the expert advice, video gait analysis and the benefit of trying a bunch of similar shoes
