Is there not a thread on this film already? Saw it last night and it was brilliant. I knew review were great and the award nominations were coming thick and fast but I stayed away from knowing too much about it.

Mickey Rourke is revelatory in the part, I'd like to see him get the Oscar, though in saying that I've not seen all the films that all 5 actors are up for.

This film fits in with the depression that Hollywood have been spewing out lately. Seven Pounds, Benjamin George, The Wrestler all seriously depressing.:(

    Thanks Bollywood for Slumdog!!!:D

It's people like you that are ruining the film industry maaann....:pac:

I used to hate people in work talking about pirated DVDs. All they'd talk about was the fact that people's heads got in the way and you could see people walking to the bathroom, never talking about the film itself. May as well have gone to the cinema if the pirate is that bad of quality.

    Rant over

My flatmate brought it back from Thailand last week.

I think the film industry is doing a pretty good job of ruining itself..paying actors obscene amounts of money and releasing crap..but thats another debate entirely.

I agree, I just can't stand crap quality pirates, not that I condone piracy, but in this day of widescreen tvs and DVDs, Blu Ray etc, why do people bother. Anyway that's another topic.

    Because it's free, maybe?

Anyway, The Wrestler is a pretty good film alright, i wouldn't rate is highly as Requiem For A Dream though (Aronofsky's best work in my opinion!)
