Well, i'm a student in D.I.T. bolton street and 2 weeks ago my bike was stolen, from the rails around the building. This area is on camera, but no evidence was found much to my dismay, but anyways, just wondering about second hand shops around dublin as i am looking to get one similar to my old bike. It was a trek 810 singletrack, with a few bits on bobs added, like road tyres etc. I found it perfect for getting to and fro to college and home. Saw that cycleways have a deal with an iron horse commuter bike, but at 300 , seems a bit steep when i could get a top bike for the same price second hand! Any help appreciated guys thanks

    Just for future reference,
you can leave your bike in the staff carpark which has a security guard which puts off most thieves, I never leave mine at the other racks.
Anywho, got my bike secondhand from penny farthing on camden street, was cheap and cheerful and still works fine...

gumtree.ie and adverts.ie, I had to check out a few bikes until I hit gold, an as new commuter for 70 papers, there is plenty up there for the taking.

I was aware of this guarded area, but just zoomed into this one for handyness sake, guess i paid the price! Ill try camden street tommorow, i also heard the guarda auctions are a good spot for picking up a cheap number!

Any chance of a few pic's? Interesting to see what €70 can actually buy.

@OP: Any chance of shortening your sig? I read it thinking it the thread was about mic's then iPods....

also a bolton street student, but one of the lads here picked up a second hand in a bike shop along dorset street, an old 70's(i think) racer, for less than €100. hardly fit for touring or anything, but perfect for commuting.

I would look for a second-hand hybrid in good working order.

    +1 on the annoying signature.

I think you should spend a little bit, and get a quality bike.... something like a second hand Specialized Sirrus Elite or something

It was this model, but a differen bike, my one had been well looked after, drivechain was well oiled, brakes were in good condition, well worth 70 papers.

nah the 'car wash' place down by the cinema, they have a sign outside advertising a bike for sale, looks super dodgy.

tis' the one alright, if they were ever open it would be a good place to go and reclaim your bike but its always shut, also plenty of fixie ready frames
