In a similiar vein to py2006 thread...

I'm going up to (hopefully) buy a car on wednesday - I asked the salesman about sorting out the vrt but he said that'd be left up to me. I've never bought a car from a dealer before, north or south, and am unsure exactly of the paperwork process - will he give me the v5c there and then or what's the story?
