I guess to get people to go out on a work evening for a few drinks and go somewhere new. Can't see it increasing the crowd the way the world is though with people watching the wallet more and more.

At least one of the meetings last year was on a Thursday.

    Great move in my opinion.

I'd be much more likely to go on a Thursday - the whole going out and having a few drinks thing is much more acceptable on a Thursday when there is only one days work left in the week. Wednesday is just too damn early.
A few times I've managed to organise work socials to Shelbourne Pk on a Thursday, with Leopardstown on a Thursday we could there instead.

Also a few of the Wednesday meetings tended to clash with big football occasions at the end/start of the season - Champions league semi's and final in May, Ireland internationals in June and late August.

Yeah I would think it's a good idea too...plus Thursday's weather last year seemed much better.

Lots of people get paid on Thursdays. I'd say it's as simple as that.

It had been suggested a number of times over the last few years to move it to Thursday night. As a racing enthusiast I would always try to get people racing but my work crews just weren't interested in heading out on a Wednesday evening. Thursday is much better as a lot of people head out that night anyway as only Friday to go. Plus Club 92 is open on a Thursday. The problem with Wednesday nights was that once the music stopped and fillies closed, peopled started heading home as nowhere else to go unless you went back into town. If Club 92 is open, people will make a night of it. I think it's a great idea. The Wednesday nights last year were cursed by the weather.
