A friend of mine was telling me that an elderly relative of hers was in a Hospice before passing away.. She reckons, when you're in a Hospice they will get you ANYTHING you want.. If you want alcohol they'll go out and get it for you.. Even illegal drugs??.. Reason being that if you're in a Hospice you're dying anyway so they'll do whatever you want to make you happy/comfortable/content.. I argued that that sounded ridiculous and couldn't be true..

    Is it???

When I'm dying and hopefully very old, I intend to try heroin, and opium, and laudenum.

I'm gonna open up my own hospice! With blackjack, and hookers!

In fact, forget about the hospice and the blackjack!

Righhht. I'm sure Hospices would risk their licenses being taken from them by suppling their patients with illegal drugs. Do they send the little filipina nurses out to the street corner to get some smack?

Maybe there was some rogue nurse working there when her relative was in who was administering more than their prescriptions.. I can see them now.. chopping out lines of coke in TV room :D

I used to work in a big Dublin hospice, and never saw that happening.

I mean they'll pretty much get you anything legal. But we never had dealers and pimps rolling into pedal their gear to 90 year old oul ones.

So if you asked for a bottle of Jack Daniels they'll go out and get it for you??

Well, we had a drinks trolley twice a day. The nurses would wheel it around and you could order a drink from it. They wouldn't let you get boozed up, as your behavior could affect others.

So, there is SOME element of truth in it.. Interesting.. And what sort of a selection of drinks would be on this booze cart?? Are we talking spirits or a just tipple of sherry for the grannies??

well, in some of the long-term psych wards they'd have a few bottles of guinness for the old lads, and maybe some sherry or baileys for the old dears. (presuming they could drink with the meds they were on) no spirits or beer. and usually they'd only be given it on special occasions, eg birthday/christmas,

Remember that young fella that apparently had 3 grannies in there? Yeah, he wasn't their grandson. Did you even check what type of flowers were in the bouquets and what type of cactii were in those pots? No? Didn't think so.

P.S. don't spoil it for them

I misread the thread title, it being AH, and assumed Ho spice.
The answer to the question you never asked is that paprika is, in fact, the ho-spice.
