A poster here has the following signature:

"Politically correct (PC)" has a specific meaning, it's not a buzz phrase you throw around to look clever...

They should be sent to stand in the dunce's corner.

Political correctness is a satirical phrase intended to send up the rigid dogmatism of some left-wing ideologues (the idea that in the vast spectrum of political opinion, one position is right and every other one is wrong). The clumsiness of the phrase is also intended to poke fun at the kind of language used by these types.

A person adding the above coda to everything they say does not look clever. Anyone who describes themselves as politically correct doesn't get the meaning of the phrase at all.

If the signature is intended to poke fun at people who express opinions that they don't understand, please accept a newbie's apologies.
