I was trying to remember all the groups that have arrived on the island. Did I leave out any?
A few of these will prove to overlap I guess, or may even do so already (are all the hostiles now encompassed in the group "the others"?).

Original natives (possible 4 toed statue builders)
    Black Rock crew
Group that fired the burning arrows.
    Hostiles
    Others
    British soldiers
    Dharma Initiative
    Russeau's gang
    Henry Gale (balloon)
    Desmond on sailboat Elizabeth
Drug runners' plane (including Ecko's brother)
    Oceanic Flight 815
The Kahana crew (Whitmore's hired soldiers and scientists)

I think you have them all, but is it possible that some of the groups, as you have listed them are the same people due in part to the spacetime jumps. In other words the Oceanic Flight 815 group might actually be the hostiles/Group that fired the burning arrows etc....

Yeah there's a lot of overlap.

The Others/Hostiles are the same thing. Dharma called them the Hostiles; the Losties called them the Others. What remained of Dharma after The Purge was absorbed into the Hostiles/Others.

The British soldiers are probably associated one or other group. Dharma or the Others, take your pick. Ditto for whoever fired the burning arrows.

Why would they fire arrows at themselves? That doesn't make any sense.

Original natives could also be linked with the Others/Hostiles (who are definitely the one group).

It looks likely to me that it's either the natives or the others or Rousseau's gang who fired the burning arrows. It's not really Dharma's style.

Also the soldiers could be there from WW2. The guy in Hurley's mental hospital seemed to be around there in WW2 - also was Rousseau's broadcast not made from a tower she said was left over from the war.

It's also possible that some of the Black Rock crew joined the Others.

Leonard. He was a patient in Hurley's mental institute who repeated the numbers over and over. Hurley heard the numbers from him and used them in the lottery. Leonard later explained that he heard the numbers being broadcast in a loop over the South Pacific while serving in the Navy in 1988. Rousseau's science team heard the same transmission and crashed on the island around the same time. She replaced the numbers loop with her own distress signal which the Losties heard in the pilot.

This was in Numbers in season 1.

I think the soldiers and arrow throwing gang are the others/hostiles from different points in time?

I think Stufinnegan is onto something here but id go furthur and suggest that the other may be the descendants of the survivours of flight 815 and the other groups listed If youll recall the episode of ds9 called children of time the defiant flew through some temporal field surrounding a planet that split the defiant (I think ) sending one version into past and other crashing in present where they would discover the planet was now populated by there descendants. The rub of that episode was that the defiant leaving would erase these people from existance(which of course happened thanks to a love sick odo :P) which brings me back to Lost as this ties in with bens desperate need to get the oceanic 6 back on the island with such a small genepool already 6 people leaving could have dire consequences for my puported descendents as many might be in some way related to some or all of these 6.

As a theory I know it has its problems would the writers so be bold as to crimp an idea from an episode of another sci fi show but I think there is a certain logic to it , or i could be completely of my rocker guess we'll see :D
