This forum boasts both subscribers who are highly informed and/or who have a great interest in horse racing. Yet, the last new thread to be found on here is 4 days old and all threads show a combined contribution of 2 posts (since I logged on) since yesterday. Something is wrong with this given the past weekend with the irish champion hurdle as the showpiece.

Moderators are active in other forums on this site and are extremely active on letsbet. The moderators for this forum go back a long way and must have an extensive knowledge of horseracing, why not start a few threads? If you're not allowed then I suggest the rules be changed.

    rynners,

Firstly I have been more than accommodating to you over the last number of months, especially when you were trying to hawk shares in that donkey of yours. Despite that , we have had a number of threads where you have been purposely disruptive, where you had to be banned for a week, and another which springs to mind is where you posted a nap at 5/6 (go you!!) and had a hissy fit when nobody came on thread to say that you are the form master!!!

Now you come up with this sh1te. Listen, nobody asks you to post here and nobody forces you to post here. My job, as moderator, is to allow the free flow of discussion on this forum, without disruption from you or other half-wits, it is not, to start up random threads on this forum, because it is quiet.

You, being the racing genius that you are, will know that this is a particular quiet time for racing (weather, chelts is a couple of weeks) so some people might not have all that much to say on the matter. Also, some people might also be out at the actual racing or watching it on TV, instead of sitting at their PC's flicking from pron to the HR board on boards.ie with their fingers hovering above the reply button.

Finally, what do you know about me and/or any account I might have on www.letsbet.ie? Stop talking out of your hole FFS.

Firstly, I don't know a thing about what account you may have on letsbet, I think you may have misread moderators to mean you, when in fact it means moderators in general. On rereading this I feel it's clear.

Secondly, you have been at time accomodating to me and I thank you for that.

Thirdly, I don't remember giving out tips on this forum, if I did give a 5/6 winner then it's almost 100% return on investment. I like that.

Fourthly (should be main point in fairness), my opening post was not an attack on you, the forum or it's contributors. It was a suggestion that moderators should start threads given the extensive knowledge that should have given that it's been terribly quiet of late. You were way out on that one Hobart.

Fifthly, I never claimed to have expert knowledge of racing, in fact I have always said i was forum lite.

Sixthly, last weekend was the irish champion hurdle, it was not a quiet time in racing. I was clearly lamenting the fact that not a single post/thread was put up during this time. It was a lament, not an attack.

Finally, there are times I talk out of my hole, this however was not one of them. You should plug yours though before hissyfitting to an op.

Signing off from this forum, given the moderator clearly thinks I'm an idiot I don't feel I'm welcome here.

I think your post is way over the top and out of order Hobart.

Your attitude towards regular posters is awful and you just get peoples backs up and create more arguments than you diffuse with your nasty sarcastic posting style.

I've already addressed that point in my post above.
Secondly, you have been at time accomodating to me and I thank you for that.
No thanks expected or needed. I raised that point, as you subsequently went on to post a number of disruptive threads as you were "bored". I was illustrating that you use this board when you have a "need" and yet abuse it when you do not.
Thirdly, I don't remember giving out tips on this forum, if I did give a 5/6 winner then it's almost 100% return on investment. I like that.
I do, and your missing my point. You wanted the way people view posts to change because nobody had come on to praise you for your incredible insight into tips.

Just because people are mods of forums, it does not follow that they have any knowledge on the forum topics. It helps, but it is not a requirement. Have a look at those applications for the soccer mod on the soccer forum, to see what I mean.

Also, it may have escaped you attention, but this is the horse racing forum. the charter clearly states that "it is a forum catering for and encouraging off everything that pertains to the sport of horse racing." It's not a place to bitch, piss or moan about forums. We have the feedback forum or the helpdesk, for those suggestions.

Not really its just a typical reply from you, why cant i discuss it with you instead of going to helpdesk.

Ryanners was a bit frustated because no one was posting here much ad suggested that the mods post a bit, that was it.

You come on and - call his horse a donkey, berate him for napping a horse, call his post sh1te, call him a half wit, not to mention your usual sarcasm belittling him.

I also don't believe that I ever claimed to have an incredible insight into tips, you say I posted one, I may have, if I did it was the only one I'd say. This statement of yours is a complete lie.

Fair enough, debate away. I've no issue here. No bans will be given out for anything said here. I can't say fairer than that, can i?

Let me address some of your points.

You say that rynners was frustrated, we all can get frustrated, some of us address it in a certain manner, others decide that they will vent on a BB in cyberspace. rynners has shown a propensity for venting his boredom on this board. I've let him away with it before, and I was prepared to overlook i today, apart from the fact he decided to vent it across a couple of threads and multiple posts. It can get a bit tedious.

Like I said, some people get frustrated, I called his horse a donkey, I apologise.

I did not berate him for napping a horse, I had a go at his reaction to it. Totally different thing.

The sh1te comment was not named at this particular post, more the totality of the sh1te he has posted today.

If he is going to act like a half-wit, I think that it is a fair assessment. As for belittling him, it's not my intention. Don't read so much into my posting style, context is very hard to convey with the written word.

I think Hobart is right to be honest. Rynners is well within his rights to make this forum more active..so why doesn't he just do it? Instead of complaining about the forum so much. I think Hobart, in being the only active mod on here really, was very accommodating in allowing Rynners to pimp a horse that was useless and he admitted so himself. Now I don't know much about this letsbet or whatever it's called but I personally am sick of reading posts by some people on here..(mostly mdwexford who is so far up his own hole that it's just funny)..and ryneers...I actually have a level of respect for you...but there's not much a mod can do here that's not already being done.

Theres no point in getting on to Hobart about stuff that was said and then make smart arse comments back when at least she?? is explaining her reasoning for doing so and has agreed to discuss it here with no risk of bannings.

I agree with you Hobart that bumping lots of threads with noise probably wasnt the best way to go about getting people to post.

Personally i think its in the best interests of the forum to have the mods and the regs to get along or at least be civil to one another.

I agree. Quite a few regulars have gone off to www.letsbet.ie , some still post here and also there. This place still get a bit of a buzz around the times of the bigger festivals, but I agree that the same level of buzz is around since fade2black and the rest left.

my suggestion in the opening post was that moderators could start a few threads. Hobart has read this forum for years, he must have a decent knowledge.
For instance, if he saw it quiet last friday/saturday he could have asked who people think will win the irish champion hurdle and why. I could have done the same except for the fact that I was busy, moderators on the other habd scan the forums. Not like I suggest he get away from his playtime. \
All my opening post was to give an idea to give the forum a bit of a boost.

Im not talking about your post count, im talking about the content of your posts.

Ok we'll see if anyone backs you up, perhaps you can post some examples of my "drivel" as you put it.

Well done for taking this thread way off topic by the way, stick to your posting "drivel" on every Waterford thread on boards instead maybe.

next time i post a nap (ok it was a shade of odds on sp) i'll spoiler it. 60 views, 3 contributors including myself

I don't know how to quote the above so please take it as a quote.

I believe my point in it was that it was a nap given, with very little feedback as to aguing the naps merits. Yet 60 people viewed the nap (hence the spoiler note). I also believe that this is where the fantastic punt going on thread came from.

I withdraw my lies comment as clearly you consistantly misunderstand the written word. (for it to be explained clearly: you misunderstand what is said, make your comments about me based upon what you think I said and I naturally interpret them as lies). I'll not think you're lying in the future... just that you're errr... not reading them properly?

anyhow, back on topic. Zero threads over 4 days which included the irish champion hurdle weekend doesn't make a for a forum. In the interests of the forum I suggest if at all possible that moderators pick up a bit of slack and start the odd thread. It's only a suggestion...

I'll ignore the last paragraph of what you have said, as it makes very little sense tbh.

Whats misunderstood, by you, is how things really work. Just because there are 60 views, it does not follow that 60 people viewed the thread, that's a fact.

Secondly, why exactly would you spoiler it? To what end?

Thirdly, why would you want to stimulate a debate on an odds on nap? It's odd on for a reason, as you well know. Very little reason for discussion tbh.

Finally, there is no real excuse for posting crap (aka fantastic punt), you can have as good a discussion here with 3 people as you can with 20 (that's my experience any way). Trying to drum up users with "fantastic punt" type threads, is actually counter=productive to your agenda, as people read them, think your a complete muppet, and decide not to visit the board again.

Fair point in the final paragraph. However I'm not debating your now clear understanding of what I wrote, just the fact that you originally misread it and berated me based upon your misreading. This is the point you should address and not your understanding of it now. You misread that post, and misread my opening post on this one in a horrible way, your reading skills may be called into question.

For your info. 5/6 Odds on in this case I felt was way overpriced. In fact, just reading my opening post on that one, he wasn't odds on, he was odds against at the time. he was backed in and won by a street!

Rynners why does it worry you so much that there were no posts in four days or whatever.
Start a f**king thread if you want one. Or go somewhere else.
I'm not standing up for the forum or Hobart or anyone. I don't know him and I think this racing forum is fairly shiite to be honest (simply because its too quiet).

Most of the old boards people are over there (I'm hill16 on that forum). It was started a couple of years ago by fadetoblack and some like minded individuas.

I'm a co-owner of Let's Bet along with three others who used to be here a lot. We wanted a one stop shop for Irish punters (all sports) and it's worked well. I think most of the boards racing people post over there now which is the main reason this place has gone so quiet.

Hmmm, I thought I had already said that there was enough pimping of www.letsbet.ie lads.

WB, I have said that there will be no bannings on this thread for this discussion, but if people want to discuss other betting sites, there is a sticky up above, so no more pimping of www.letsbet.ie . OK?

I see that you are a Admin on www.letsbet.ie , but this is not the thread, nor the place for mentioning it.

I'm closing this thread tonight, any feedback is more than welcome.

OK no probs hobart. The reason I was mentioning that site is because I believe it is the reason boards is so quiet so it answers the OP's question. Won't mention it again.

Rynners, in my experience, all forums hit lulls now and then due to many factors. I think we'll see the place busier again as Cheltenham approaches. Also, a couple of regulars prefer flat (MasterK and some others as far as I know) so they've been quiet lately.

stretchaq: Yes, I have a betting piece in the Indo every Saturday which is proving to be a very enjoyable challenge.

NP WB, just as an aside. I've been accused of being an Admin/Owner of www.letsbet.ie, content of the PM below. I notice that Hill16 is an admin of that site...I've been accused of being Nijinski as per this post http://www.letsbet.ie/forum/showthread.php?t=4465&highlight=hobart

Now I know the character that is supes (from here and w2w) and I also know what kind of a wind up merchant he is. In the spirit of freedom and openness, could you just clarify wether or not I am or am not this user? Cheers, Hobart.

I don't want to be a prick, so I won't be posting this, but am tempted!

you mention letsbet.ie a lot, it's a little like he doth protest too much. So I ran a little search for hobart just now in letsbet and found this thread. Ironically it is a thread that I contributed to (if you read the whole thread I was asked to start up my posting/updates on the donkey on letsbet but remained loyal to boards, some payback your over the top slating of me was yesterday eh?). Pay particular attention to the second post.

If I do post regularily can I expect the same level of abuse from Nijinski?
    regards
    Stephen

./Edit, I am involved with another betting/racing website, but that is in conjuinction with an owner of this website. It is not letsbet.

I can confirm that hobart is not Nijinski.

It looks like mister Supes is extracting the urine again.

This is all getting very complicated!

I think that thats quite enough for this thread. I've asked an Admin to look into the details of the PM I was sent by rynners, and I'm also waiting on a PM from rynners. I don't take kindly to being accused of having a hidden agenda, especially when that accusation is done via pm. I'll reopen this thread if anything of substance is fed back to me. But for now, I presume everybodies concerns have been addressed, maybe not your rynners, but you can continue to raise your points via pm, as that seems to be your prefered method of communication.
