Highlights/Lowlights: Blonde or Brunette? To Fringe or not to Fringe?

Hi All, Hope I'm posting in the right place. Off to the hairdresser Thursday eve and can't decide for the life of me whether to redo my blonde highlights or go a bit darker, kinda brown. I don't really like to be in the middle, one of the other is better for me! My natural colour is light brown with a some strawberry blonde bits that come up under the sun/light. I have very pale skin, typical irish! Any advice? Also thinking of having one of those thicker straight across fringes put in, right now I have a feathery one brushed to the side that's almost grown out. My hair is just on/past my shoulders...what do you think? Want a bit of a change, as I'm moving abroad next week.

from a male perspective, fringes aren't attractive! Bangs all the way

are bangs not just the american word for a fringe? whats the difference..?

yep as far as I know bangs are just the US word for a fringe. I guess he means the thinner kind of fringe rather than the full on heavy straight across one?

    I love the heavy fringes!!

I love the heavy fringes too! But that's just cos I have curly hair so can't have one :( If you're skin's very pale you might be better off going with darker highlights so you don't look washed out. On the other hand, if you've pale skin with warm tones them warm highlights (honey and caramel colours, not platinum) might suit you.

would you ever like just go mad and get a Rhianna bob??and a sweepy side fringe coming from one corner of your head to the other like a full on fringe???and then i think from what your describing that you should go blonde :D i could be describing your worst nightmare cause its not for all...its just cause you said a change?

    HOPE THAT HELPED :D

My hair is kinda similar in colour to yurs, but longer so i had a feathery kind of fringe cut in, can pin it back if it bugs me or leave it down, whichever..

Hi! Thanks for the suggestions. I wouldn't go for anything too short as it doesn't suit me, have a round face and my hair has a kink in it which means it all 'springs' up if its too short, it sits relatively better with longer hair and a bit of weight on it. Still haven't decided hmmm

Sam is from Cork, they're 10 years behind the rest. ;)

In my view fringes on women is hot!

I'd go for the fringe...esp if you go shorter just 'bangs' are flimsy and can be very feathery trying to grow them out...

What shape is your face? Heavy, full fringes can't look a bit odd sometimes on very roundy faces. Otherwise, I love them! I had one last year, but it wasn't practical for school & tying up my hair :( I want it back though! Go for it! :D

As for the colour, if you've naturally got reddish tints to your hair, you could try maybe coppery or caramelly sort of highlights, maybe!

My face is round but not very, I did have a full fringe a few years back and it was fine, I just needed to straighten the fringe cause my hair never sits straight, the rest I'm happy to leave a bit wavy most of the time! but a wavy fringe yuck! I have decided to go lighter rather than darker so that's a step closer, thanks for all the suggestions ;)
