Sky+ Recording & using the red button

Sky Sports 1 had a rugby match on today. You had the option of hitting the red button to watch another match and generally jump betwee them.

When you record this and play it back later you can't use the red button.

    1. can you watch one match and record the other one that you reveal with the red button?
2 is there a way to get the red button to work for recordings?

    Thanks

No - you can only record the main channel. When you press the red button watching a programme live, the box switches to another programme stream and displays that for you in real time.
If you are watching a recorded programme (say BBC1 or SKY Sports) the red button facility is disabled.

Yes. I sky + recorded a WWE Box office event, the only difference was they put a limit (think its a month) and they then delete it from your skybox

You should be able to SKY+ record it. Once you start to play it back there is a time limit of 24 hours during which you can view it as many times as you like and it's deleted once the 24 hour period has elapsed. If you don't attempt to view it it will stay on the box for 7 days after which it is deleted.

So if I'm watching Sky Sports 1 and I have two matches at once that I can flick between with the red button how can I record one.

Will the Sky+ record the default stream? Does this mean once I red button over to the other match that the default one will record in the background and be there after?

as there is 2 streams ionto a sky+ box, does this affect the "red button" viewing.. ie if i am recording one channnel, then watching rugby on sky sports and recording the main match, can i also press the red button and watch the red button game, or would this end one of the recordings? Just curious now lol

I don't believe that you can have two recordings going and also use the red button facility because that would need a third tuner if the extra screens are on a different frequency/polarisation to the main channels in use for the recordings. I suspect the red button facility just wouldn't operate - unlikely that a recording would cancel in this case. I will check for you;)

Ok - here's the story. If you press the red button while you are recording two programmes, you get the following message:
"Interactive services not available while two recordings are in progress"
    Happy and informed now?

I didn't know that they had different terms for events ordered by phone (I'm assuming you mean you spoke to someone in SKY to order the event). I've always used the phone line attached to the box to order events with the remote.
