Hi all, most of you lot know what you're talking about so I'd appreciate a bit of knowledge on this one.

I'm hoping to get a new car next week with some factory extras (body kit, 18" alloys and twin exhaust) Are these something you need to declare to insurance company as modifications? If they are do they load your premium by much?

Thanks in advance for any replies..

yes you do, you have a standard modification charge added on ( i.e cause everyone upgrades the radio/wheels of their car... )

it shouldn't be alot but expect a slight rise, all depending on how much you actually add on, but then again if its just factory mods...

Ring and " price " how much it would add, if its not too heavy on the pocket, by all means work away.

Depends on the insurer, mine covers up to €300 worth of factory of aftermarket anyway, notified or not.

well it depend, you say the extras are factory fitted?
so lets for example say you were buying a bmw 320d ES version then added M-tech wheels, M-tech bodykit, then they are modifications you added so they charge extras.

but lets say you buy a bmw 320d M-tech, then the value of this would be alreay reflected in your insurance premium as you will be insuring it as an M-tech and not the lower spec ES if you get my drift?

by the sounds of your post your buying an Audi A4 with RS kit fitted? i may be wrong though :D
