What sort of legislation governs the use of these high impact body traps.
As you know there is several nonsensical requirements to be implemented before one sets a snare is there a similar page in legislation that pertains to the fenn.

Ivan, if you don't know, asking is the right thing to do...
...but saying you do know and they're legal to use when you don't know is not terribly nice.

Maybe if you try reading the OP again you might understand the question being asked here!! but I'll paste it in especially for you mark!!

Mark i asked "What sort of legislation governs the use of these high impact body traps. As you know there is several nonsensical requirements to be implemented before one sets a snare is there a similar page in legislation that pertains to the fenn.

Please note the second sentence: " As you know there is several nonsensical requirements to be implemented before one sets a snare is there a similar page in legislation that pertains to the fenn.

i.e is there some nonsensical requirement involved in and around the use of these legal traps
    .................................................................................................

Look:- they are legal and there use is allowed but it seem that again the g-men where more concerned with the removal of gin-traps from the statute books than the implementation of a correct code of conduct in relation to the effective and safe use of these new fenn traps and other body traps...

Why did i ask the OP, well just look at the madness involved around snares and you'll notice a serious lack of control over a potentially much more harmful trap such as a fenn, who's use is strictly controlled in the UK..

Just look at the overkill that they have implemented in relation to snares.

Its abracadabra at dawn with the placing of sticks over snares to stop large animals getting their legs caught in a snare that already has a stop/slide device fitted to stop cutting or strangulation and in reality these stoppers are designed to stop deer and similar sized animals from getting their legs caught in snares and in other countries this is how these stop/sliders are marketed.

These type where the only type of snare that i could buy here in Ireland that Half way conformed to the legislation. It would have been far wise to have banned self locking snares(these being the one over which all the bad press arose-mainly) and implement a strategy were snares were fitted with a running noose eyelet that was designed with a breaking strain of X amount in pounds or similar to the leg pull force of that of a deer or sheep..

Now if this rigmarole is requires for a fairly simple and in-earth snare then surely there exists an profound 1000page statement pertaining to the use of spring traps.

I posted the OP as i had just read on another site that these traps must be placed in a pipe.. And thats the first time i heard this..

So you see mark i did not tell any fibs about the legality of fenn traps..and i avoided any reference to their appropriate use within Irish law..

BUT THANKS FOR READING MY THREADS!;)

Missed my point again Ivan. Either you know they're legal - in which case you don't need this thread because you've read the legislation and case law and know the answer to your question here; or else you don't know that they're legal, you only think they are, and you're off telling someone something you don't know and maybe landing them in trouble.
I'd rather like it if you didn't do that kind of thing in here.
