I'm very close to buying a Nissan Maxiam, this link is not the actual car but it's the closest I could find. http://www.cbg.ie/Car_Detail.aspx?ID=2693790#

Can anyone give me their thoughts on this car and what I can expect to pay?

Have you got a link to the actual car? Or at least a year, price and details? The one in your link is ridiculously overpriced, to be honest...

These cars are unbelievably hard to sell as they don't carry the right badge. I know someone who had one and while he was very happy with it he could not give it away.

As they are hard to sell this will work to your advantage when buying. There should be plenty of room for negotiation on them. Just remember buy it cheap but be prepared to drive it till it dies.

Regarding the one in your link, I agree with Unkel, that is way too dear.

Here is a cheaper newer one though with higher mileage:

Given the low demand for the Maxima I would be expecting to pay below €6k for that car.

I'm going to buy it from a friend of mine so there's no link but the specs are 2001 QX automatic, 88K miles, new head gasket, NCT for 2 years €4K. The interior is very nice and well maintained.

As a matter of interest, why are these cars so hard to sell?

they dont fit the market they were designed for,

too big to be a normal family saloon, not high performance car, it was designed to fit the same bracket that the lexus gs300 or bmw 530 would fit , midrange executive saloon , but the nissan badge means they dont appeal to people in those catagorys

They don't sell well due to high motor tax for low mpg. Parts would more than likely be main dealer only.

Make sure that head gasket was done properly or you won't be friends with the seller for much longer.

I'd say they are very heavy on fuel. Thats said its a decently equipped barge for not much money, if thats what you are looking for.
