I cant get it to update to 2.60. the download/install bar sits at 0% and its so annoying. Ive tried everything except a restore. I think my cuurent firmware may be corrupt or something. I did try doing it via usb and same problem. My internet connection is fine too.
Anyone else experience problems? My ps3 is just over a year old so no warranty either.

    Help please:eek::eek::eek::eek:

obviously not if his hard drive was gone
but not knowing what was wrong ,resetting it can help move it along sometimes.

thats a very crude thing to do. what if somebody wants to salvage the data on the drive ? formatting it won't fix the drive if it's on its way out.

this might be a bit of a long post ,but it's the way I'd approach the problem myself.

the drives in the ps3 are formatted to fat32.
almost any operating system recognises fat32 ,so realistically you should be able to view a ps3 hard drive with a sata-usb adapter.
there is without doubt loads of programs to rebuild a fat32 drive that is corrupted ,enough to try and salvage whats on it. worse case scenario is the ps3 will reformat the drive

windows operating systems wont format any bigger than 32GB in fat32.
there are third party programs that will format any size drive in fat32 in seconds though ,within windows.

if you format a hard drive in ntfs and then try and format the same drive in the ps3 ,it will take literally hours to reformat the drive back to fat32.
    a fat32 ,fat32 format on the ps3 takes about 20 minutes.

no ur wrong, he just cant update so i presume it still turns on, op can just copy the saves to a memory stick or ext hd

the ps3 isnt formatted in FAT32, its a variation of it, try it connect the ps3 hd to ur pc and c does windows recognise it as FAT32, even paragon partition magic doesnt recognise it as FAT32

the link i posted works, a friend had the hd corrupt message and it wouldnt format when he pressed x, instead of sendin it to sony i got the hd and did what the post says
it worked, get ur facts right before arguin

a quick format in the ps3 will do the job

ok ,i'll take your word for it. i didn't have the option

just to let you know ,you haven't done your mate any favours by not formatting the drive properly. all you've done is basically put a plaster on a wound that may well need stitches.
a full format would have sorted out any bad sectors or fixing that the drive needed.

id did a full format first in the pc and then tried it in my ps3, bobs ur uncle

Goin try a full format. Ive tried everyting else. When it does to download the update it hangs at 1%. Id say its fecked. Just out of warranty by a month. Thinkin if i bring it back to Harvey norman I might get some come back. If they dont entertain me Ill go down the root of small claims court and the fact the good should last longer that a year.
