Saw "Bolt" in Dundrum this afternoon at a preview show. It was in digital 3D & I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable two hours (almost) I've spent in a long time. Would rate it up there with a Pixar release which is hardly surprising since it was exec produced by John Lassater (not that *that* means much). Thoroughly enjoyable flick. The 3D is fantastic & if that's the future of cinema, then bring it on. There were several landscape scenes where I couldn't tell if it was animation or enhanced film.

There was a pixar short before it called "Mater's Tall Tales: Tokyo Drift", also in 3D) which, while beautiful, didn't really work for me & I think they're gonna do a series of them judging by the title.

I'm sure the movie will be out in 2D also but if you can try to check it out in a 3D release.

Just one thing though... why spend half a billion dollars buying a CGI animation studio if you're gonna go ahead & release your own ? I thought the plan was Walt Disney would concentrate on more traditional fare & Pixar would do the CGI stuff...

I found Bolt to be a weak movie. Some funny scenes, but it carried no heart. Bored for most of it to be honest.

I saw BOLT 3D in Cineworld today. I thought it was great, but the 3D in trailer for ALIENS VS. MONSTERS (which, methinks could be the movie of the year) before it was even better.

Yeah seen it on the weekend. Thought it was very good, I found the pigeons particularly funny as well as Rhino the Hamster, kinda reminded of the ones from animaniacs. I've a feeling this movie will fall under the radar of a lot of people as it looks like a movie only for kids. I mean I only went to see it myself because I love anything CGI and had never seen a movie with the new type of 3D being used.

I found it had equal amounts of humour, impressive graphics, character building and a genuinely heart warming story. The 3D really is fantastic and is a must if you are planning on watching it. A few of the scenes where shot with 3D mainly in mind, and, on more than one occasion, I found myself (and the rest of the cinema) flinching away from the screen.
like when the receptionist sprays her pepper spray at the camera, lol :D

Yeah, that made me lift up my hand to protect myself.

Rhino was the best. The pigeons were great too. It awesome how they made them act like real pigeons with head and eye movements.

I think Disney movies are now the middle ground between Dreamworks (generally, with some notable exceptions, pretty average) and Pixar (generally fantastic). Bolt was very enjoyable for what it was, now roll on Up :)

Oh, and kudos for sticking a Jenny Lewis song on the soundtrack :D

Good assessment, in my opinion. Bolt was a well-executed film; it looked fantastic. There wasn't really anything that fresh to the story though. Bolt himself seemed quite like Buzz Lightyear, and Mitten's back-story was quite like
    :Jessie's from Toy Story II.

thought this was a great film, and agree that it may go under folk's radar and it deserves much more which is a shame, Rhino was a show stealer

Enjoyable, but nothing special really. Definitely nowhere near as good as pixar released of late...or Kung Foo Panda.

Personally didn't care for Kung Fu Panda at all. Thought Bolt was good. Not great. Enjoyed the birds in it most. Pity they barely made a lengthy appearance :(

Kung fu Panda was one of the worst Animated films i have ever seen! truly awful, while Bolt I wasn't interested in it till i saw that John Lasseter was Exe producer for the film, and glad i saw it truly great! the pigeon and hamster was great.

Though i wonder what the film could of turned into when it was American dog with Chris sanders before the movie change.
