Car hire between Canada and US

I sure that when messing around on a Hertz or similar site a few days ago I was successful in getting a quote for a one way car hire between Calgary and some random airport code that I'd entered for somewhere in the US. I've not been able to get any of Hertz/ Avis/ Alamo to give me a quote again now though, but it does not…

I've not been able to get any of Hertz/ Avis/ Alamo to give me a quote again now though, but it does not seem to be specifically blocked from being a possibility on any of their sites, it's just that they claim that the cars are not available or something whenever I add a change of country to the search options.

Has any one ever done such a car hire in north America, and if so who did you use? The only requirement is that I start from Calgary and then finish two and a bit weeks later at an airport with cheap'ish flight connections to DC.
