Does anyone else find the Roslin character to be a self-centered, obnoxious bigot?

I absolutely hate the character, always have, but this season...

On what grounds do you think she is a bigot? Of course she is self centered, she has got to be - she's done with being the dying leader of prophecy, she just wants her life back.

Gaeta's mutiny is going to be interesting. And the reveal regarding Cally was excellent.

I hope Felix catches a bullet soon.

    Not really no.

More of a crazy old lady, she's just missing the cats.

Is it just me or is this show starting to get boring.

Its nowhere near the quality that it used to be.

That final bit with roslin and adamma was just not good. Frac we know there doin it but come on people, we dont need to see it, two old people in bed like that is just not good to view after eating. i dont think i be right for a week after witnessing that,

That wasn't as good, or revealing, as last weeks. I thought that the tillium ship might blow themselves up for a minute there. The mutiny being lead by Gaeta was coming for a while. He's not been a happy bunny since losing his leg, but a mutiny and a presidential coup at the same time, that'll be interesting.

Civil war all round then, until the other Cylons show up anyway.

    And Adama.

They're willingly refusing to give up control, and yet there they are, willingly not giving a frack. While frakking. Ewww

speaking of reveals: Felix is a gimp :pac: Ha Ha
    she's just missing the cats.

    Poor Lamkin :(

Boring. The entire episode felt like it was made according to a standard episode formula: Throw in some Tyrol moaning about his unloved kid, Tighe moaning about his eye, Felix moaning about his leg, Starbuck moaning about her clap, Roslin moaning about her cancer, Baltar talking nonsense about God, Zarek doing a Joe Higgins impersonation, Six going goo goo over cylon babies, civilians moaning about the military and hey presto: The perfect Battlestar filler episode.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,119 ✭✭✭Volvagia

I hate gaeta, he's become such a dick head I would have loved to see starbuck knock lumps out of him. I liked the line about hitting a cripple.

It was a much slower paced episode that last week, but i still enjoyed it.

All hell is going to break loose if cyclons are made citizens.

I also like Tyroll talking about how our technology is better that our technology.

Didn't care that much about the president, but the old man has gotten very old looking. I honestly thought he was going to have a heart attack while he was brushing his teeth.

I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of the mutiny but this episode wasn't as exciting as i'd hoped it would be.

Disappointingly slow, considering the pace of last weeks. I really thought we weren't going to get lots of final in the final episodes, but it seems it's already starting.

I don't give 2 sh*ts about Felix or any of that crap, let it be.

Sweet jebus you might be right!

I liked it. I feel its probably an episode which will be built upon. I do think its a bit late to be starting the whole mutiny thing though, unless its actually going somewhere?

Terribly boring filler episode, which I wouldn't usually mind but there's only 10 episodes left and they give us that? frack off lads time to get back in gear again.

That episode could have been saved by Felix and Zaricks revolution actually kicking off near the end

    All I'll say is:
Cally was a slapper and Adama getting it on with president baldy was just creepy.

    Filler episode.

The first time in 4 seasons that I actually dosed off in mid episode. It was brutel, the whole episode could have consisted of just the last few minutes and we would have been no worse off. If last week's episode was a party then this week's episode was the morning after's hangover.

On a brighter note the last 8 episodes can only be better.

Definitely a bit of a snoozer but I think that has to do with how strong last week's opener was as well, making it a tough one to follow. I'm a bit annoyed that this is what it came to when only 9 episodes were left but hopefully it'll build up to some good things ahead... This was also the first episode ever directed by Ron Moore so I expected a lot more - he should stick to only writing :) (though he also wrote this episode so go figure...)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Thought it wasn't half bad. All the Gaeta stuff was great - i like where they're going with his character arc. The scene with Starbuck was particularly good.

Yes, could've done wiithout baldy Prez and the Admiral there at the end.

The various threads being spun out in this episode were all well done, although the feeling I've got from the last series is that there's less focus in the script on the various interactions - you always got a very good view in the first couple of seasons when they were running a story thread of how that story impacted a *lot* of people - minor characters were drawn into it. Now, there's only a focus on the big names.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Oh, and a tenner says the Six will miscarry. Sure, the Colonel can't be having a baby at his age :)

Filler episode tbh, but as pointed out already - very much setting the seeds for something big. Not to mention something that's probably going to be very bloody as well.

I would say it's likely that the nurse will try and abort the baby, or something along those lines. She seemed very pissed that the Cylons were getting all the doc's time, when people like Gaeta, and Tyroll's son (whom she knew was pure human), were being pushed to the back.

Maybe that won't be a big part of it, but I'd imagine holding the very first pure Cylon baby as hostage, might be a great boost for Gaeta's war, if the nurse joins them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 325 ✭✭Derek Coleman

Why are we setting seeds at this stage. Anyone who liked this episode is being blinded by their love of BSG. Every hour after I watched this made me more and more angry at what I watched. It was boring dribble.

The nurse will kill Six's baby somehow. Which will probably leave her more obsessed with Hera. And Roslin's death is welcome at this stage. The selfishness of that woman is remarkable. She's been pampered and arse licked for 4 years and she thinks she's owed something! Whereas the people in the fleet who are just numbers on her board have been dying slowly for 4 years without cancer.

That is by far the worst episode in the entire show. I'll not even watch a repeat it was that boring. Please get back on track. Its like watching Lost, nobody is talking about anything they've found out.

I liked it fine and I'm not blinded by anything pal, jeez.
They had to set the seeds of the uprising somehow(loads felt rushed to me actually-six and tigh's relationship progression, gaeta hating starbuck.)

Gaeta's backtalk to Adama was interesting but has he explained what happened in TFOTE yet?

Its all shaping up far the dark conclusion Olmos promised us where they'll be left with ?almost nothing?.

    Old ppl in bed tho....

tigh: do you want me to make a chart for you?

    viewers: yes please

    gaetas a gimp lol

    gaeta the ultimate patsy

did i miss an epsidoe where the 5 cylons accepted their cylonnesss to such a degree that they then gooed over a baby with a cylon etc

im still confused are tigh supposed to be the same type of cylons as 6 and boomer.

is earth really worth frak to them?

i thought we got flashes of things that will happen in the next episode

we saw adama like he was captured and seconds from being shot.

The set-up and reminder episode. Necessary I guess but there wasn't enough momentum for my liking... surely we don't need too many big new storylines at this stage?

    This.

At what point did Saul (I can hardly believe he is in love with the Six) and Tyrol decide they were happy to be fully fledged Cylons.

    Wheres Anders?

Oh completely agree, and blatantly bigoted against anyone who disagreed with her religious beliefs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,723 ✭✭✭✭noodler

She was at her absolute worst in Dirty Hands when she completely dismisses the chief when he was telling her there are people on the Tillium ship who haven't had a day off since the original attack on the colonies.

Something like "Oh, Chief, no, were done talking about this" shoo shoo (probably)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

She is also probably the best written character in the show, very believeable and a useful villian/hero dependent on your views.

As for the episode, I though it was quite good, but I always tend to enjoy these slower 'character development' moments.

A very average episode and a rushed illogical one too.
The President is a dictator ,the Quorum are a joke as they are never given any credence, and Adama is back to his old habits of riding roughshod over the Govt .
Adama really needs some PR help to try and smoothen things over with the Quorum ,instead he sparks a civil war .
From what been said I have a feeling that we wont get any more secrets revealed until the last 3 episodes.

Was wondering that myself. Was completely out of character. Boomer's journey was far more convincing (ah for the days of Season 2 when we had sharp writing).

Maybe they couldn't find enough recycled dialogue for him. Although his usual "Kara, why can't we have sex?" routine would have fitted in well with the general whining and tedium.

I'm telling you, the most important fact from this ep is that cylons can reproduce normally now.
And, as I've said elsewhere, I reckon this is a direct relation to the lack of a resurrection ship.
If you have a people who are, in effect, immortal, you have to provide that they won't reproduce normally, if you did your resources would dwindle in a couple of generations.

I reckon that the Cylons are us, we are human, so are they.
The people of the 12 colonies are also human, they are those that fled the holocaust on earth, using resurrection tech and finding a new homeworld, where they settled.
Not needing resurrection tech anymore they proceeded to breed and multiply, bringing us the population of the colonies as we see them.

The human form cylons, are human too, but never gave up the resurrection tech, so never reproduced normally.
Instead we have a society of clones, still adhering to the monotheistic god of old earth.

    It's a theory anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,723 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I think Six and Tigh can reproduce because one of them isn't a Cylon in the conventional sense as well.

Almost wish I hadn't downloaded it, it took an age, quality was not HD despite it being from the Sci-Fi HD channel and now I have nothing to look forward to on tuesday.

For those that are quite aghast at the (our) Earth popular culture being used in the show, Adama is reading Emily Dickinson from the book he pulls off the shelf near the start. One of her "everything is screwed" poems (which is, I guess, all she wrote anyway).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Johnny Storm

Are we to understand that Tigh impregnated Six while she was in the slammer? That's just nasty...... :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,723 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I though that was common knowledge.

Do you not remember the Tigh/Adama fight?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Johnny Storm

I thought it was one thing her being pregnant but another to confirm that Tigh was the dirty bastard in question ..... ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,723 ✭✭✭✭noodler

I don't understand? At what point did they not make it absolutely clear that Saul was the father?

I mean thats whay him and Adama had the punch-up about.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 223 ✭✭telemachus

I'm guessing this is all leading up to a civil war, which Adama and co will eventually win bloodily by enlisting the rebel cylons in return for a promise of citizenship and equality within the fleet. I imagine much will be made of humans and cylons working together to kill fellow humans etc, it would form a balance of sorts for the cylon on cylon battles in which the humans took a side for their own benefit. Where Baltar and his self pitying mob come into it i'm less sure, and the president seems to have gone from "it's all my fault, i've failed everyone" guilt to "bugger the lot of them i've earned a break" remarkably quickly; infact alot of bits and pieces in this episode almost feel like it's missing an episode inbetween this and the last one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,081 ✭✭✭✭Stark

I don't think we'd be at a loss at this point if a hatch accidentally opened and sucked Baltar and his followers out into space. The whole plot line was a bad attempt at keeping Baltar in the show. I think it was much better when he was an honorary cylon.

I really hope the human on human civil war doesn't come at the expense of resolving the whole cylon/cylon civil war storyline.
    telemachus wrote:

I'm quite surprised that RDM was the writer/director for this episode. It felt like it was written by someone who wasn't fully following the show.

I don't mean to nitpick this one to death but seeing as you asked... :pac:

My recollection is that Adama asked Tigh what he was doing in the interogations, Tigh replied he wasn't torturing her and then Adama announced she was pregnant. Then they fight, break Adama's model ship and laugh it all off.
IMHO that does not make anything "absolutely clear".

Was there something else that made it clear that Saul was the father?

Really? I'm not sure what more you want...besides Saul literally saying 'I am the father'. Which is the kind of patronising, blatant writing **** shows have.
