    How are yee fellas,
So along comes yet another GAS attack, which is something that is almost necessary at this stage. Recently i have been almost unable to play due to the amount of noise i make, and amount of "quiet" needed at home! even with my 5watt Champ. So i've been increasingly driven towards a POD for headphone use. I haven't quite decide on a budget yet, but i'm looking at a fully fledged pod x3 so that would be almost €300 squid. But i'm also looking at the pocket POD too, as i think that maybe the x3 would be overkill for what i want it for. Which is essentially a nice headphone amp!
So what are your experiences? likes dislikes? Would you be positive or negative about them? And are there other alternatives?

    Cheers Fellas!
    Al.

I have a Pod Xt/X3 and I have gotten some great sounds and a lot of use out of them, but recently I picked up a Pandora PX4D new for 86 euro off Ebay and while there may not be as many tones in it they sound much better to my ears. For an example of how it sounds check this out:

    http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/mojo-oro-part1/

All his lessons are recorded with a PX4D. He lists his settings on the site aswell.

Thanks for the recommendation! Seriously looking at this over the POD, seems to fit the bill and it's priced in between the pocket pod and pod x3. Can i ask is it easy to use? And get good/decent tones out of? Reviews online seem very positive.

The Korg Pandora tones arent really up to Pod standards (i had one), they're a bit fizzy and tinny. I wouldn't use them for recording or live use, but for simple headphone practice, its grand, does the trick.

The built in metronome and rhythm machine give it a massive advantage (imo) over a pocket pod for headphone noodling.

I got an X3 the other day, amazing piece of gear. Loads of great sounds in it, the presets are absolute ****e though, you have to make your own from scratch but its very easy.

Okay, so i think i've narrowed it down to either the pocket pod or the pandora. I can get the pandora for about £100, and the pocket pod for about €80~, it will be mostly used at home just for headphone use, hence ruling out the pod x3, it wouldbe great but it's just overkill for what i need. As for the best tone, what do yee think, the px4d, or the pocket pod?

I have the pocket Pod and I think the tones out of it are great. You can change them and make your own tones using a PC. You can also plug an MP3 player into it for backing tracks to play along to. Pushing it through an amp is not great though, unless its at low volume.

Just thought i'd drag back up this thread to let you know how i got on. I ended up buying a korg pandora px4d off GAK.co.uk and to say i'm impressed would be a massive understatement! It's brilliant, incredibly simple to use, and to my surprise i'm getting fantastic blues tones out of it, i love being able to mix guitar amps and bass cabs to give a gorgeous deep bluesy tone. I literally haven't stopped playing since i got it, since i'm now as close to silent as im going to get from everyone else point of view anyway!
I have been wondering though, seeing how impressed i am with this little daemon, just how good the pod x3 must be!
Thanks for all the input lads, it was much appreciated as usual!

Have you tried plugging into a full fledged PA yet....would it suffice for a gig?

Glad to hear you like it :) I gotta say though (again) that I still think the Pandora sounds better than the X3, just the X3 is easier to use.

If you want to get an AC adapter for the Pandora Maplins sell a 4.5V ac adapter but you will need to buy a seperate tip for it (the larger yellow tipped tip in this pack fits http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=42951)

Cheers, I actually have an argos multi voltage adapter that works a treat!

Haven't gotten the chance to plug it into a PA unfortunately, id love to try though, as i think it would more than suffice if you're not going to be changing much mid song.
The best tones i've got are gorgeous fat tones playing with my squire classic vibe strat with lipstick tubes.
