    1. What type of ammo are you using?

    2. What type of gun are you using it in?

    3. How do you find it?

    Cheers, Murph.

hia murph, glad u up and about with licence at last, i have a beretta 92fs inox and am using magtec ammo, €14.00 a box of 50. steep enough when down the range and using quite a few boxes which have to be purchased in the club.

€14? That's a bit steep for magtecs, I use them as well and have never paid over €12.50 a box for them.

sure is meyer, might shoot 500-1000 on a full day on the range, going down to the club shop for rounds is a curse, but at €14 a box x 20 boxes is €280 and more usually, but not allowed to bring u'r own to the range.

Alright Medicman, first time out yesterday, shooting low and to the left:o
    Need some coaching me thinks.

Making you buy ammo at the range is a joke, especially when its a euro dearer than everywhere else.
You'd think that being a member you would be looked after, you pay enough for membership.
Have you spoken to the range owner about this?

I've been told that Sellier & Bellot is the way to go, much cleaner than Magtech and cheaper, 12.50 a box.

hia murph, quote from owner " my club, my rules ", if you dont like it, get lost, not much i can do about it, i bring my .270 rifle down also to zero scope, box of 20 .130grain is €40.00, ouch, what a rip off, still, only had to get 1 box. hope you have fun with pistol and we get to hang onto them next year.

hia murph, its €300 for the year, and you MUST have at least 8 sessions on the club grounds during the year where you must purchase ammo, for ob reasons i dont want to say where it is, but its the only one near me which leaves you do your own thing without someone looking over your shoulder while you are enjoying yourself.

I think I know the range, can you use your own ammo after those 8 sessions with his stuff?

nope, fraid not murph, that 8 is to ensure you are using his range and ammo, after that u still need to purchase his stuff, all wrapped up. still, as i said, its better than some.

I suppose if thats the only downfall with the place, you cant complain!

Is there any other brand of 9mm ammo on for sale there?

Low and left is usually a trigger control issue, what type of 226 do you have, DA only, or DA/SA?

Watch the finger placement on the trigger and the let off should be a surprise for best accuracy, make sure you control the draw back of the trigger and pull back your trigger finger towards your aiming eye.

Helps to dry practice with a 2 Euro coin just behind the foresight, objective is to keep it in place every time you pull the trigger!

Hi Bob, my 226 is da/sa. I only used it in sa.

Hopefully I'll have someone to tell me with me the next day to let me know what I'm doing wrong.
In the mean time I'll practice wit the coin.
    Thanks again Bob!

da is double action = can fire on a loaded chamber with hammer down. Trigger action will cock and release hammer on first shot then will revert to semi-auto action

sa is single action = have to have hammer cocked to fire pistol. Cannot be fired from a hammer closed position by pulling trigger

Thanks Bunny, I know what sa/da is:rolleyes: like I said, I only used it in sa until I get used to it!

It looks like I have a problem with trigger control.

Anyway back on topic, have you got a 9mm pistol, if so what do you feed it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,096 ✭✭✭bunny shooter

Sorry, must have misread your post

Maybe some of your problem is only firing it SA, it isn't a revolver

As ya say back on topic have fed mine "MFS", Winchester bulk pack 100's and Magtech.

Bulk pack were good, "MFS" were ok, magtech are best but bit dirtier. Paying €14 per 50 off importer, so bit nasty for price, but i know he is ripping me off but with so few dealers selling 9mm what choice do I/we have.

    no bother lad:P

I just thought for the amount of time I'll spend firing it in da, I'd be better off starting with sa, but you could be onto something.

Would I be better off firing it in da to begin with as it requires more trigger control?

14 is saucy alright, have you tried Sellier & Bellot?

Oh yeah, what type of gun are you using?

I have a CZ 85, 9mm, lovely bit of kit. It too is DA/SA. The trigger has been tweaked and even so DA takes a good bit more pressure on the trigger as it is "pulling" back hammer before it fires. In SA it takes less effort IMHO.

My accuracy in DA is not as good as in SA

My dealer don't stock it :(. PM your supplier details please might give 'em a try ;)

The CZ is a lovely gun, a friend of mine just bought one and he's delighted with it!

    PM on the way!

I'm using a Sig X-5 allround and usually get the ammo from Brian O' Duffy in Galway.
