"lock doctor" in limerick

i had an issue with my 206, the key wouldnt go in fully, the little latch that falls in place into the hole in the key was down sothe key wouldnt go in.

called these guys out and the guy was in the car for no more than 3 minutes, got it sorted and charged me€80:mad: for just a few mins work 80 quid!

stay away from this crowd unless ya have a serious problem, i regret ever calling them:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Let me get this right, he came to you, fixed your problem and charged you €80 and you have a problem with that? Seems pretty reasonable for a callout and successful resolution.

I dont think 80 euro is unreasonable for a call out. If it was such a simple 3 min job why didnt you do it yourself?

The guy solved you problem in 3 minutes and you are complaining, would you have preferred to have him there for 3 hours and charge you the same? He solved your problem quickly, having come to you. Come on.

A bit harsh OP most tradesmen have a call out fee and 80 dosen't seem bad at all he had to travel to you to fix it ! !

Sounds reasonable to me! Not cheap, €50 would be cheap, but you could be an hour waiting.

Considering the guy had to come to you and fixed the problem quickly I don't think you were ripped off.

Did you not ask for a ballpark price before agreeing for them to call to you?

For a call out? That would be nuts! Remember, you need to take travel time into the equation as well, not only the "3 minutes" spent fixing the problem.

He might have been only in the car for 3 mins, but the man had to drive to you, possibly thru heavy traffic, and possibly from a fair distance from where you live.

Then he had to drive back to his garage/office/wherever.

So in reality, it might have been a 3 minute job for you, but it could have easily been an hour + for him.

When the majority of posts are saying that €80 is a good price for a very basic repair is it any wonder our economy is Flucked? Do you hire an electrician to change your light bulbs?

Personally I would have used the passanger door if I was in a rush, same thing happened on a pugeot 406 I used to have but instead of using the phone I used wd40.

Even before i opened this this i was thinking the title was a bit harsh. I was thinking "Lock doctor, my bad experience" kinda thing. But to open and see they successfully did the job for you i don't understand.

Thread should be deleted or locked and let fizzle out incase it even dents there reputation. Lots of people read the Motors forum. I'm be pissed off if it was my business.

Here is a good experience with Lock Doctor.

Like most others I think €80 is good value for a professional call out job.

Absolutely not, if they did the job right. The above mentioned business did what they were paid to do and I dont begrudge them their money at all.

My point is why the hell were they needed in the first place? €80 was an outlay that could have been completely avoided.

This thread reminds me of the old story: Man's central heating boiler won't start so he calls a service engineer. Engineer arrives, gives boiler a good kick upon which it starts immediately. I charge my customers €120 before my engineer even pulls his finger out of his ass. €80 including labour is reasonable.

That poster is a mate of mine, he is definately not the lock doctor nor affiliated with him/it/the corporate entity known as lock doctor.

I'm sure if you look through my posts you will see I'm also from Limerick...but I'm not the lock doctor either. I swear. Honest. I don't even have a car.

My boss used the Lock Doctor a good while ago and was very impressed. When Zuroph had a problem getting into his car I remembered this and passed on the info to Zuroph via the thread.
