Setting up Time Capsule with Eircom?

I'm thinking of getting myself a Time Capsule but to be honest I'm not entirely how I would set the thing up with my eircom netopia router. As I understand it I would have to hook the Time Capsule up to the netopia router and put it in bridge mode? (which again I'm not sure how to do).

Is anyone here using a Time Capsule with a netopia router and if so could you share how you went about setting it up? Thanks.

You can bridge the Netopia or the TC.

I've a different modem from Smart, which I can't bridge because of other services on it, but you can set up the TC to allow the (Netopia or other) modem to connect to the ISP, and to assign the IP addresses, etc.

When you get the TC, you use Airport utility to set it up, and simply set the "Connection Sharing" setting to "Off (Bridge Mode)" rather than "Distribute a range of IP addresses" or "Share a public IP address".

PS: I've heard of issues with Wi-Fi range on TCs as opposed to APX (Airport Extreme). If that matters to you (big house or thick walls), you might consider the APX and an external HD (which is what I have, because I got it before the TC was launched).

yeah spot on have set up similar network; eircom netopa with time capsule in bridge mode... and unfortunately similar range issues with the time capsule :(

p.s. connect your mac to the time capsule via ethernet cable for first sync... also watch (decide what is important) what you choose to backup in time machine to the time capsule...
