How many idiots would be going around with them flashing not knowing they're flashing, just like scooters and motorbikes do

    That would wreck my head!

ah yes, I prefer to use my hands, but ... last night while cycling in the dark ( well lit ) I was thinking ... 'I wonder if people behind me can see me signaling with my black gloves' ... ( I have arm bands but not everyone does ) ...

    Anyway ...

I use the reflective snap bands around my wrist, seem to work fine.

Would it make the slightest difference? Doesn't matter if motorists see you IMHO, they generally choose to ignore you.

I agree that some motorists ignore you but I generally find most motorists to be reasonably considerate.

I'm not convinced about the usefulness of this device.
The purpose of indicators on motor vehicles is to indicate your intention to turn.

As well as an indication of intention, a cyclist's hand signal (when turning right) is a request for space to turn (which, yes, some motorists ignore).
This hand signal is usually accompanied by a look over the shoulder to see what the traffic is doing behind.

A cycle journey is not a car journey and I'd be concerned that anything that makes it more like a car journey might lead to a lessening of the level of awareness that is necessary on a bike.

Also, because it's not a person with a hand out asking for space to cross the lane to turn, I think motorists would be more inclined to ignore it.

    My 2c.

    Regards,

    Liam
