From a strictly art point of view steamboy is gorgeous but as a movie to be sat through its not the best no.

Have you seen Paranoia Agent? Satoshi Kon made that too, it's supposed to be class.

I just finished Welcome to N.H.K.

That was a pretty good viewing. Lot's of dark comedy even though issues like Social Anxiety and Suicide are mentioned thoughout the series.

Paranoia Agent was one of the first series of "darker" Anime I watched. And for that it really sticks in my mind. Great series.

what is Code Geass and would anyone recommend it

Code Geass is worth a watch, I kind of lost interest halfway through the second series though.
It's set in a fictional future where "Brittania" has taken control over most of the world, and wars are fought with (you guessed it!) giant robots on roller skates.
A boy gains the power to control peoples minds and sets about trying to free Japan.
I'm making it sound worse than it is, there are some interesting cat and mouse games along the way...
Not highly recommended, but recommended nonetheless

Code Geass was likened by a lot of people to Death Note. Deffo worth a watch.

Except instead of Shinigami, you have giant robots on rollerskates. (Not necessarily a bad thing)

Excellent i will download that when I get time:D

I think I will try deathnote next how many series are there of that and where is the best place to get it.

    thanks everybody for your help.:pac:

    Brilliant movie.

And if you like giant robots on rollerskates you can't not like giant robots on surfboards in the sky (Eureka Seven)

    You're kidding, right?

Alternate history of Earth, Britannian Empire controls most of the planet, enforces its rule through the use of Knightmare Frames, giant robots with skates.

A brilliant young boy with a desire to change the world is granted a supernatural power by a strange individual, certainly a definite whiff of Death Note here, but this is as far as it goes. This "Geass", allows him to issue commands to any person, which must be obeyed. Using this power, he begins his quest to overthrow the Brittanian empire.

Season one was most excellent. It was fast paced, unexpected and exciting. A definite must watch.

Season two was not as good, largely down to some major cocking about in Sunrise during the first season. Though it is still worth watching for completionists sake and closure.

The artwork is inspired by the work of Clamp, who lent their hand for character design. The animation throughout the series is top notch. The action is entertaining, the characters are interesting, the music is of quality, the twists are of the unexpected and the tone is certainly dark at times, though varies throughout.

Grade A stuff all round, but the second season never quite attains the dizzying highs the first season reached.

I first watched Code Geass at this year's Eirtakon but I was drifting in and out of sleep cause I came straight from a night shift :(

It was pretty good though. Liked the idea behind the story. It's on my (much too long) list of things to watch.

    NHK
    Code Geass
    Death Note
    Tengan Toppa Gurren Lagann
    Gundam 00

    All worth a watch.

Sendit.com has pretty good prices. Only the first 4 DVD's are out on R2 so far (about 16 episodes), vol 5 isnt out till May.

Not too sure about R1 though, if you have a region free player.

I wouldn't trust them, they seem to have the exact same layout and inventory as www.uk2usa.co.uk.

All their region 0 stuff is bootlegged. I wouldn't trust their Region 2 stuff either.
