Alfa Dealers

I rang two Alfa dealers in dublin today, looking for a price on both a diesel GT and Brera.

For some odd reason, both salesmen could not give me a price over the phone, but promosed me they would call me back within the hour. This was at 2 o clock today. I phoned back an hour ago to the two dealers, both were with a customer. They said they would ring back.

    Still no phonecall.

Im a bit disgusted to be honest, as i had promised to have the quote to the customer by this evening, so its now making me look bad too.

Guess what the customer will be getting a quote on now. An A5.

So Alfa have lost out on a potential sale. If i did not phone a customer back after promising to do so, i'd have my hole kicked for me.

In this day and age, salesmen need to cop on.

    Rant over.

Actually aren't alfa due to reduce the price of their cars this week (if it has not happened already)?
Which dealers were you talking with... name and shame :)

If you think Alfa Sales is bad, wait till you meet Service.

I remember dealing with BBC alfa dealers. Brendan Brady Cars. they were terrible sales and service.

There was a tasty GT on adverts.ie awhile ago. You shoud take a look.

That car is no longer for sale as far as I know. Tis a nice one though.

Never heard of Brendan Brady for Alfa before?

To the OP-who were the dealers?

I believe Brendan Brady was a standard Fiat/Alfa dual brand dealer who disappeared last year.

Which dealers were they? Not that theres a huge amount to pick from....

Lads, im not gonna name and shame in here.

If you want to know which dealers it is, then PM me and i'll let you know.

Its a bad idea to be posting the names of dealers on a subject like this, and i dont really like other people doing it, so i wont be either.

Sorry, i'd just prefer not to!

OK, how about somebody name a good Alfa dealer?;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,191 ✭✭✭NewApproach

Thankfully I haven't had to deal with their sales yet as I brought mine in from the UK, but their service is joke. Had to get two bolts for an exhaust bracket, it took them 10 weeks to get them in stock.

But it was ok, because they where "special bolts":rolleyes:

Oh, and the garage was Monaghans in Galway, dont see any reason to hide their name...

The only reason im not naming and shaming is im in the trade myself, so i know i wouldnt like it done to me.

Anyhow, got in this morning, no email or message that he called yesterday evening.

It'l be interesting to see if i have to chase it up.

Unfortunately this is what alot of Joe Public has to deal with alot of the time too and it's not just Alfa dealers.

    ....glad you like it, vengeance

I'm not actively selling it but I have kept the ad on adverts live if the right offer comes along. I have my eye on a 166 in the UK if the GT sells. If it doesn't then I'm not bothered

It's in your interests as much as ours to clear the wasters out of the industry. I'm sure you wouldn't dream of treating a potential customer like that, so no need to worry about it happening to you.

As mentioned in this thread already, this problem isnt restricted to alfa dealers, trying to get a price from any dealer now is getting near impossible should it be this hard to hand over my cash?

Oddly I priced a few cars in the north last weekend...I had the prices sitting in front of me within 15 minutes of walking into the garage.

(and now from looking at the alfa site because of this thread...I want a 159 boooo)

OK that has done it for me!

Rang one of them there now, his words were "sorry, i forgot all about you"!!

First place was Tracta Motors, second was Donohues on the Kylemore road.

If there is anyone from either of thoses garages reading this - Get your act together. You are giving everyone a bad name.

I've dealt with Alasta before for Service and was very happy with them

I've bought from Tractamotors before, with the same level of service as you experienced.

Give Ken Grandon a call in Grandons - 021 482 1874, then get a transporter to bring it up to Dublin.

Thats despicable. At a time when dealers are struggling there is no excuse for a rep to 'forget' about you!
Ring the dealer and ask for the dealer principal/manager and tell them how you were prepared to buy off them but you will now buy elsewhere because of the treatment you received!

I experienced the exact same with Tracta Motors, useless.... I was left standing in the show room for about 20mins while a fella was on the phone to a friend! Couldn't believe it, plus the car was way over priced, was not happy

Some of the Cork heads on Alfaowner sing the praises of The Sweep in Kilmeadan.

I have found Alasta very good for parts, never made any enquiries about stock.

Personally, I wouldn't be bothered with a new GT-I have a 2004 JTD and it's the same car as is available now, save for the addition of the 'Cloverleaf' spec (Blacklines/Monzas only had cosmetic changes like paint and wheels I think) which includes a remap and Q2 LSD as standard plus some new wheels. All of these are easily added to a used GT if desired.

Re. the Brera, I have seen some used models going for very decent money in the UK.

Pretty shocking that they weren't biting the hand off you for business at the moment-especially since you are interested in a new  Alfa Romeo!

Based on personal experience, i'd be slow to recommend.

I can personally vouch for Lex's GT - superb GT to own, definitely the nicest and best spec'd on the market. Nothing touches it for the price!

As for Alfa Dealers. I've dealt with Donohoes when I was looking for my first Alfa a few years back (a 147). Similar experiences, generally not-arsed with me.
I went to Airton and never looked back. Ask for John in sales.
I subsequently bought 2 further Alfa's through Airton due to their service to me before during and most importantly after.
Their service department, I had zero complaints about either.

Try Airton, I've never had a problem with them, sales or service - albeit on the Fiat side.

Just after buying a Alfa 159 JTDm 150 bhp from Ken in Grandons. A pleasure to deal with. Give him a call for sure

I had a deal arranged on a new BMW 318d SE... But due to issues outside my control the deal did not happen. I'm glad now as I'm loving everything about the 159... Collection is on the 2nd Feb...

Are Alfa's coming down in price?
