    Hi,

I need to ask this before I do what I go through the process of posting log file results etc for someone to look at with the naked eye.

Basicly, The keyboard does not fuction properly intermitently but usually in the morning in this manner.

The Windows startmenu is up - press esc clears it fine

Open Internet Explorer type www.e - windows expoler opens and can not enter any thing else in.Type something else and the pc goes back to the login screen.
This occurs for a period of about 2 hours and then clears i.e use pc without any problems and then next morning back to square one.

I have re formatted the disc twice and loading AVG and Spybot immediatly on reinstalling XP.
Prior to this I have tried everything else ie CCCleaner ADAware Trojan Hunter etc etc comes up clean.

Is it something to do with Accessabilty features or the like as I though Reformatting and a clean Install of XP would do it.As reformatting clears all the data.Surely something is not hiding on the reformatted disc before any sofeware is installed.

Any help would be great as the mind is boggled.

    many thanks

On the off chance it's something simple, thing that springs to mind is a stuck windows key?
Shortcuts for explorer and login screen are win+e and win+l. Just a chance, but have you tried another keyboard?

    hi Fluffy.Death,

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes I have tried a different keyboard and is still the same.

I wonder is it possible for Virus /trojan to remain on the hard disc a fter windows reformat and install.I have a Webroot Software system eraser which apparently will wipe all data on the disc completeing.Do I need to bother going through everything again.

    regards.

I you have reformatted the harddrive this should have erased any malware, this sounds like it might be a driver or other software conflict, try starting the PC in safe mode and see if the problem still occurs.

Also check your logs control panel -> admin tools -> event viewer, look at events that are occurring when you are experiencing these problems.

You can find a driver checker here which will look for driver conflicts on your system: http://www.driverchecker.com/

You might want to update the firmware bios for your PC aswell, visit your vendors website for information on how to do this.

You can also run the sfc /scannow command from your command prompt, this will verify all your system files are correct and replace any faulty ones, you should back up your data before doing this or updating your bios.
