Rebates - Do they apply to European consumers?

I have purchased a Mitsubishi HC5500 (will be getting it some time next week) and was wondering if anyone knows whether the whole rebate thing applies to us here in Europe, or whether it only applies to US consumers.

This projector supposedly has a $300 rebate and free bulb if purchased before 31st January 2009, as detailed here:

Has anyone ever managed to receive a rebate similar to this?

The T&C's of that offer say your not entitled to it unless you bought it from a US shop and they will only send it to a US address.

    Thanks Rew

Yeah I actually contacted the Mitsubishi Electric UK offices just there to get confirmation on this. They confirmed that they do not give out any rebates (in fact she hadn't a clue what I was talking about when I rang - after looking into it with her colleagues she emailed me and said the rebates only apply to US consumers.).

Its a pity that only the US manufacturing companies seem to be offering these rebates as they can make up a huge price difference and seem to be available across most of the major brands.
