There is an official event from London to Paris. You could consider signing up for it: http://www.londres-paris.com/site/html/home/index.php
    My bro is doing it.

Hi. Best of luck with the trip, it could be great fun.

    Tips.
    (1) Get a bike that you are comfy with and road tyres.
    (2) Work on milage, not speed. Build up your training so that not only can you do the milage that you need to do in a day, but that you can do it on consecutive days.
    (3) Get some comfortable cycling clothes. Lycra shorts with a chamois, cycling shoes (am new to cycling, but I have found these to be a great help on long cycles as they cut out pins & needles in the soles of the feet.
    (4) Cyling top and maybe a windproof gilet. Make it easier to cycle in, as your sweat evapourates.
    (5) Eat little and ofthen on a long cycle.
    (6) Pre-hydrate and stay hydrated on the trip.
    (7) Enjoy yourself.

What kind of mileage have you been doing in training and how long are you planning to take for your trip - i.e. how far per day?

Do you have the bikes? Are you planning on carrying your stuff with you? Camping or hostel/hotel?

A touring bike would probably be ideal but you could certainly do it on a hybrid. Make sure you have a rack and mudguards with panniers presuming you are carrying your stuff.
