    Hi
Just wondering if anyone else saw the adverts for the LHotP dvd sets now available each week from newsagents. I want to order these but live in a small town so was hoping to do it online. I saw a URL for a website on the advert but tried to look it up and can't get through to it so I must have it wrong. Does anyone out there know what it is or how I can get these without having to travel to a city to get from a newsagent each week.

I loved this program and even now think its great hangover TV, not that I have much of those with bun in oven and a toddler on the loose but still its nice for those lazy TV days.

So any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I put this in the wrong place.

    Thanks

Why not just order the complete seasons from amazon* instead?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Ddvd&field-keywords=little+house+prairie&x=0&y=0

It's a definite online facility and is probably gonna save you a fortune compared to buying the magazine week to week (iirc it's something like 12-13 euro per mag + 3 eps?)

    * = disclaimer, other online retailers are available.

The Little House Magazine & DVD collection link

The Pigman is again correct, tho. It's a financial scam of Russian Mafia proportions.

As opposed to paying the equivalent of about €100 for a seasons worth of episodes with a rubbish magazine filled with tat taken from the interweb from these people (and get ready to be taken for the long con - There are 9 seasons plus specials!) each individual box set is available on Region 1 dvd for about €14 euro from reputable dvd sites, and seasons 1 to 5 are available on UK region 2 for about €17.

If you want to go mad and splash out, the entire collection was released in the Netherlands a couple of years back, and series 1 to 9 region 2 will set you back €190 or thereabouts. (Probably less if you have a mate in Holland who can negotiate the various Dutch websites.)

    Hi,
Thanks for your replies. I didn't know you could get all the episodes on Amazon - I have looked in the past and wasn't able to find them (I'm a bit doh with the interweb to be honest). Now if I live in Ireland then what region type of DVD do I need to purchase (you mention region 1 and region 2 in your replies below) - this bit totally confuses me and was also another stumbling block in the past. I get worried that I'll buy something that doesn't work!

I knew people in Holland but that was like over 10 years ago so best I stick with UK option as they'll think I'm a bit weird contacting them now to ask them to suss out internet options of Little House on the Prairie!

Thanks for your help. If you could get back to me on my region question then I'll start hunting.

Most likely Region 2 (Western and Central Europe) discs will be the ones you want, aside from that most DVD players can play other regions with a patch or firmware update. The ones that Pigman linked are Region 2, it shows that in the technical specs on Amazon.co.uk pages.

While your dvd player may well be able to play Region 1 (USA) dvds, if you aren't sure, you're better off sticking to Region 2 discs.

If you've got time on your hands, you could always google the make and model of your dvd player to see if it's region 1 compatible. It may save you a few bob.

My brother wants to collect these but missed the first one. We got it on eBay UK for about €13. The seller told me he had sold 25 and that 21 of them were sold to Ireland. He was asking me why so many were going to Ireland. I think number 2 came out today as well.

    They underpublished & undershipped.

A friend asked me around New years day to source the box sets for him after he was told that his local newsagent were sold out and wouldn't be able to restock. When back to work, I called the Newsagent's head office out of curiosity and was told that the stock level for Ireland was as normal when compared with the first issues of previous TV part-works (Only fools, Morse, CSI etc) but the sheer first day demand for little house was phenomenal.

Only the very good newsagents will get them in and you will be lucky to get beyond issue 6 before the newsagent stops getting them in. But rest assured you can then order each issue online direct from Moscow by giving those nice people your credit card number.

Mickey Bricks and Albert Stroller would be proud to have a mark like that. ;)
