Its my Girlfriends 18th birthday and I wanna get her something special and unique. She is really into art and is aspiring to go to NCAD next year. So I was thinking of getting a picture of me and her drawn up by someone good and then frame it and give it to her as part of her pressie.

Basically, I need someone I can give a photo too, and then they will sketch it out for me. Any freelance artists up for it? I'd be willing to pay for the drawing and postage.

I was also thinking of some of the Tattoo places around town, but I don't know if they would be up for it.

Anyone know any places or anyone?

    Cheers,
    Colm

When you say freelance artist do you mean student/amateur/cheap artist or an actual professional artist? People seem to confuse the meaning of freelance alot on boards.ie There are a few tattoo artists that are very good at portrait work but they are professional working artists and will charge you a decent sum for the work. If you just want to spend a few quid then have a look round some place like deviantart, there are plenty of folks on there who take commissions that might suit. If your looking to spend serious money on a portrait, have a quick look online for examples of the types of portait you'd like, there are lots of different types of artists out there and its alot easier to rec one if you know what the client is looking for. I do alot of monoprint portrait work which would be very different looking to say an oil painted portrait or a caricature piece.

Quicker questions would be: what's your price range...? What sort of portrait are you talking - colour or montone? Interested, but time might be against us...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.
