I was browsing the Apple online store when I came across this - http://store.apple.com/ie/browse/campaigns/cross_border?mco=MTM5MDM
Now it's easy to give iPod and Mac gifts to friends and family throughout Europe.

Click the appropriate link on this page to visit the Apple Online Store of the country you want to deliver to. For example, if you live in London and want to deliver to Paris, visit the Apple Online Store for France. Then, shop for the products you want and pay for your order with a credit card.

You will be billed in the currency of the destination country. For example, if you are sending to a friend in Dublin, you will shop at the Apple Online Store for Ireland and you will be billed in Euros.

Exchange rates will be determined by your bank at the time the order is settled. Any additional charges for an international transaction are determined by banking partners and the issuer of your credit card. Please contact your credit card issuer for details.

So if you know someone in the North who'll accept delivery for you, or maybe one of the courier services discussed here, there's substantial savings to be made.

    Example:

    MacBook Air
    Ireland - €1699
    UK - £1272 / €1378

Obviously the savings depend on your bank rates, product etc. but as far as I can see, this could be a pretty good tip. Of course, there's an Apple Store in Belfast now so you could just go there!
