Disappearing Roofer - Help!

    Hi there,

    I wonder if anyone out there can help my friend;

    She had a problem with two areas of the roof on her terraced house. She had a few different builders / roofers in to do quotes and chose a firm called <SNIP>, because she was impressed with their apparantly thorough survey of the problem. She was dealing with a guy called <SNIP> with an English accent.

    Long story short, a team of 4 guys from <SNIP> turned up before Christmas for two days to fix the problems. They appeared to do alot of work and even got her to climb up the ladder a couple of times to show her stuff they were doing. When they were finished she asked them to drop in the photos they had taken (for insurance company) and receipt after Christmas, but she went ahead and paid them 900euro.

    When they didn't drop the stuff in she started calling the phone numbers she had for them only to find both land line and mobile disconnected. And she has no address for them. AND the leaks are continuing.

    She has had 2 other roofs round to look at the work and they say it is really badly unfinished - no flashing, no sealing etc and that it will cost 1300 to do the job properly.

    Eircom will not give her an address for the disconnected landline so she's going to speak to the Gardai today.

    Two requests:

    1. Does anyone know of these bozos - <SNIP>

    2. Does anyone have any ideas about what she can do to track them down and get them to sort out the work / repay her.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
