    hey guys,

i really hope someone can help me cause im pulling my hair out here. i have a hp pavillion dv5 laptop running windows vista home premium. i need to make a clean install of xp but thats where my problem starts. this laptop has no floppy drive so i can go down the whole f6 option during the installation.

i have tried to download the drivers (really hard to find), and when i did find drivers i tried to integrate them into a copy of windows xp, but it never works. it boots and goes through the first part of the setup with the blue screen, but just as it says 'setup is loading windows' i get a blue screen of death!!!

a mate of mine suggested going into the bios and switching the controls from SATA to IDE mode but for some reason HP have disabled this option from the BIOS.

so basically, im desperate! PLEASE !!!! SOMEONE GIVE ME THE ANSWER!

Is there an option in the BIOS with AHCI beside it? If so change it to IDE Mode.

there is no option for me to change anything in the bios. ive had a good route around in there. all i can think of is trying to locate an external floppy drive and try it that way!!!!

you'd think MS would have sorted that in SP3!!

If you are using a windows xp sp3 disk then it won't need sata drivers as these came with sp2.

Not sure about raid but it won't need sata drivers as they'll already be on the install disk.
