Hey, just looking for advice on what company is the cheapst for car insurance, my car aint great to say the least so all im worried about is 3rd party fire and theft(as afik this is whats legally required to put a car on the road).

So, which insurance firm is the cheapst. If it makes any difference im 20 years old on my provisional licence but i only want 3 months as hopefully if everythings going well i should be on full licence by then.

    Cheers in advance.

As Drummerboy08 said, the only way to know who's cheapest for you is to sit down and call everyone.

Indeed. I got a few quotes recently. the cheapest was Hibernian, and the dearest was.... Hibernian.

It depended on whether I went direct or through a broker, and the broker was cheaper. I know it makes no sense, but there you go.

All you legally need is third party, but this means that if you have a smash-up and are mangled but not quite deceased, you won't get a penny out of it. same goes for fire/theft, if it happens....good luck and thanks.

Not sure about the three months thing, though. i think that they'll make you get cover for a year and refund the difference if the policy is cancelled/amended before the end. i got my full licence this year and axa refunded more than a third of the premium (i passed the test not too long after renewing).

like i said, not sure about the 3 months thing
best of luck with it though

You won't with comp either, unless you have one of those add-ons that gives you €5k per leg amputated or whatever.

Insurance Brokers, plenty of them in the yellow pages, they get you the cheapest quote from up to 20 different companies.

How much would it cost (approx) to insure a cheapo 1 litre car for a 17 year old boy?

Wondering how much I need to save up for next year :pac:

    fruglo 2K

patricide check out axa first they will offer you a student first policy i think its called you can choose comp with a large xs(600 i think) or tpf+t

then ring quinn and if the prices are similar go with axa otherwise go with quinn its meant to be the cheapest in the country

i dont think most insurance companies wont sell you tp only cover on a car they use it as a penalty to demote your cover down to if your car keeps catching fire or keeps getting stolen

just did a search on this - thanks for the info - rang insure.ie and was given a quote for 870 - fully comp on toyota corrolla 1.4 petrol - beat quinn and axa - think the undersigner is allianz but they wouldn't even give me a quote as i have no "no claims" under my own name as i was abroad for some time .

am 32 - male clean licence since 2001 if that's any help .
